Renovation in Progress

Posted Jul 24, 2016
Pros: Good restaurant at the hotel. Staff we encountered were very nice.
Cons: Missed the free continental breakfast because the hours were not published on the tickets. Lower price for the Harbor view rooms.
Location: Right off the main highway south of Nanaimo. Petroglyph Provincial Park is very close. Off course have a Nanaimo bar while in town.
This is a reasonable place to stay just south of Nanaimo. The hotel is still in the process of being renovated and when we were there, work on the lobby areas was being completed. The room was clean and fine for a one night stay and looked to have been recently updated. The one issue we had was the considerably higher price for a "harbor view" room. It was there, but over the back parking area, a road and trees. No balcony or seating area to take in the view - just a window. If I were to go there again for one night, I would just get a regular priced room and take in the water view at another place. It is a beautiful area.

Room was great

Got the bunk beds and they were awesome. TV for the kids and one for mom and dad. Nice pool and reasonable breakfast. We'll stay here again. Some minor service problems kept the score from being a 5/5.

Pros: Ricky's restaurant is right in the hotel so after a day's ride on my motorcycle it's always nice to have the restaurant close by.
The was just a stop over for us so we didn't do anything in the area.

No frills but convenient

Posted Jul 13, 2016
Pros: Location - right off the Island Highway so worked out well.
Cons: Coffee could be significantly better.
We stayed one night as my son was playing baseball nearby. We checked in late (about 11:00 pm) and everything was ready for us so no problem checking in. The room was clean and the shower had good pressure. The continental breakfast was simple (cereal, bagels, yogurt, toast) but decent for what we needed. Coffee was terrible but we were in & out quick so it wasn't a concern.

Close to town and harbour front

Posted Jul 12, 2016
Pros: Close to down and eating facilities
The bedroom with 2 queen beds is a bit small if you have more than 2 people. A 2 storey building doesn't really able to see too much of the harbour though it charged for a harbour view price (higher than a regular)

Dear Valued Guest, thank you for your feedback. The rooms facing the harbour are in higher demand than the rooms facing the highway so are priced a little higher. We feel that our hotel is priced to reflect good value in Nanaimo when it comes to our competitors. We offer the only indoor pool in town and provide a continental breakfast included in all rates. We hope you will stay with us again the next time your travels bring you to Nanaimo.

Disappointed with hotel

Posted Jul 8, 2016
The lady during checkin was very friendly. The room had old stinky carpet - you didn't want to take your shoes off. The contential breakfast was a joke. The cream was sour, only 1 coffee dispenser worked and the coffee was cold, only 8 slices of bread was out. Someone asked if there was yogurt - and the hostess brought out 5 containers and there was 8 people. She didn't replenish anything unless you asked her. Protest service EVER

We are sorry that you had a poor experience in our DayBreak Cafe. Our regular Breakfast Bar Attendant was off sick and our food order did not come in. Your experience was not the norm and we apologise for the inconvenience caused.

Was a great stay except for the 4am fire alarm and a slight musty smell in the room. Restaurant was good tho and the pool was quite nice
