It is not really in town - if you like to stretch your legs (and we do), it is a short walk down the river to the Oxbow Market, and from there you can walk into the downtown area - but in summer it can be 90 degrees out, and not so fun walking in the heat. We purchased a fairly high-priced room facing the river, nice view, tiny balcony, but hotter than hades out there, so not of much use. We could hear pretty much everything from the room next door, where they were having an animated conversation at midnight. Really low point was trying to have breakfast on the hotel's nice looking terrace. Hostess sat us not in the shade with view of the river, but next to the building under the noisy exhaust vent (we asked to move, she looked astonished and moved us one seat over). Then we sat, menus in hand, aching for a glass of water and some coffee - and then sat some more while staff served everyone around us. After waiting too long, we gave up and walked to Oxbow, where we had delicious avocado toast and excellent coffee. Lots of dining options there, super nice staffs.
I'd say if you want a real Napa experience, stay somewhere downtown. where you can walk out the door and enjoy the quaint character of that small town. If you want a secluded getaway, and have more patience than we do, and bring earplugs for sleep, this might be the spot for you.
