Delightful Bed & BreakfastPosted Aug 15, 2015
Pros: Everything, except maybe the road (Zinfandel lane) a little noisy (but all the rooms are in the back).
Location: in Napa Valley...nothing else to add!
Right in the middle of the wine country (Napa), this place is simply exceptional. The staff (we saw 2 ladies) are nice and friendly; the breakfasts ( we stayed 2 night) were out of this world! Beautiful and comfortable (small) rooms. Wine offered the day of arrival.

Charming little Inn in Great locationPosted Jul 1, 2015 on Hotels
Such a cozy little hide away! Wonderful location and gracious owner / Inn keeper made us feel very welcome. Enjoyable cheese and wine hour and breakfast with other guests was very nice but not at overdone. Felt welcome but not obligated. Lovely antiques and furnished appropriately to the period of the home, which is charming. EZ to find. Quiet and peaceful

Napa Valley B&BPosted Jun 22, 2015 on Hotels
Shady Oaks is a small (5-room) B&B. The hosts, Lisa and John, are friendly and welcoming, and their breakfasts are wonderful: Eggs Benedict, stuffed French toast, home-baked croissants, and lots of fresh fruit. Our room was quiet and the bed was comfortable. We had a lovely stay.

Cozy & intimate b&b w/ delicious breakfastPosted Jun 7, 2015 on Hotels
My boyfriend and I planned a last minute trip to Napa and wanted to stay somewhere in a central location that wasn't too expensive. We were pleased to find the location of Shady Oaks to be outstanding, on a beautiful street with lots of vineyards and charming houses and relatively close to all the wineries. Since this was only a 2 day trip and the cost to stay here was reasonable in comparison to other larger hotels/B&Bs, we didn't care so much that our room was quite small. However, I was a little surprised to find how small the entire house and how close the rooms were to one another (my boyfriend and I felt like we had to whisper in our room), but its a very cozy place with a lot of charm and character. Also, I think there are some rooms that are bigger and actually separate from the house if you can afford it. John made us eggs benedict and baked fresh croissants and it was amazing. It was a great way to start the day and he gave us great suggestions on where to go and how to plan out our day. His knowledge was invaluable since we hadn't been to Napa before. Overall, we would definitely come back here for shorter trips and recommend it to anyone looking for a intimate experience with knowledgeable hosts. Just make sure you know that some of the rooms are small, so if you are with a rowdy/party group, this may not be the right place for you.

Shady Oaks got a little too shadyPosted Apr 3, 2015 on Hotels
We won entry to a private concert at a winery in St. Helena. Made reservations at Shady Oaks which was very close. Arrived around 1 PM on Saturday and checked in OK because the cleaning lady was still there. We were in the deluxe room in the corner of the house. Ample room in bedroom and bathroom. Afternoon sun made bedroom hot. Returned at night. Front door is never locked (safety concern). Bed was uncomfortable, but had a reasonable night. Trouble really started on Sunday morning when our toilet became stopped and I could not resolve with plunger I got from cleaning lady. Was getting ready to drive my wife into town to use the restroom when found out outdoor handyman rustic bathroom was available. While outside found out from another guest that their toilet was not working and they had water on the floor leaking up from the base of their toilet and their shower was not useable. We were not able to use our shower either. Other traveler tried to call the owners, but apparently they were not available on the phone. Breakfast was good and nice to visit with guests from Japan, Bulgaria, and Southern Cal. Price for accommodations was excessive. Plumbing problems were unacceptable. Would not stay here again.

Wonderful B&B stay!Posted Mar 24, 2015 on Hotels
We really enjoyed our stay. The B&B is decorated with antiques and had "Lots" of St. Patrick's Day decorations, which were switched out to Easter Bunnies. Very Cute. The bed was comfortable, and the room very clean. The staff, Eddith and Lilial were very gracious. They served us a wonderful breakfast each morning at 9:00, and had the coffee ready to serve by 8:00.
