Awesome staff and good shows. They have a taxi service on site and a few RIU guest only excursions both of which were convenient, professional, highly recommended. We did a catamaran cruise and snorkel to Rick’s Cafe which was a lot of fun. Food was not good at all. If you want some decent food, I’d recommend making reservations for the restaurants on site right away. They book up fast. The facilities could use some updating. Issues with the toilets not flushing well.

Staff is very nice and helpful. Resort is clean. Pools are clean. Beach is nice and clean. Evening entertainment is actually fun to watch. Drinks are good. Close to some good excursion places. Food is ok but not the best.

The food is alright but not that great. I think most people wouldn’t complain. The most annoying thing was my room was all the way at the last building so it’s a bit of walk. Pools were nice. Vibe is nice with evening and night time entertainment.

Just returned from a 5 day 4 night vacation with my friends. Had an amazing time with them and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The animators Scott, Byrant, and Romeo were alot of fun especially during water aerobics, the adult games and beach volleyball. The bartenders Paul, Olena, Tyerese were extremely accommodating and pleasant at all times. This was my second time and would definitely go back.

This was an old building which needs some updating to be done. Shower was not good and there was no pressure. WiFi was always disconnecting and didn’t work throughout the resort. Buffet food was decent but couldn’t get any reservations to restaurants which means we had to go buffet all the time. There was no premium liquor, not even Tito’s which was disappointing. Overall it definitely needs many improvements.

The service was very slow everywhere except at the bars. The bartenders were great and the entertainers were the highlight of the resort! They were friendly and awesome and made time to get to know you. The internet is terrible and you lose it if you walk five feet. The most frustrating thing is the keys keep losing their “charge” and you have to walk very far to “recharge” them while the desk staff is not very friendly about it. The food was very average except for the steakhouse, it was good. Signing up for the catamaran took 2 hours and the people signing you up didn’t seem to care. They start closing down the buffet 30 minutes before the closing time so if you don’t get to breakfast early, you get no eggs,no bacon, potato’s, water etc. I would recommend spending the extra money to stay at the newer one just down the road where they probably focus more on customer care and service.

i didnt like that you had to make reservations for the five restarant and they are all full on the first day you get there and full for the hole time i was there. and they was a shooting on the beach with the local people on the beach and someone got shoot.

i didnt like that i couldnt make reservations for dinner at any of the 5 restarant and the one that i was finally able to make. the restarant told me that i didnt have a reservation for it and they couldnt make an exception like i was lying about it. and one day on the beach there was a shooting on the beach with locals and a local got shoot. but other than that the hotels is ok. free food and drinks,beach cant beat that.

I arrived Monday, March 25-29th and the 1st thing I did not like was the check in process. It took over an hour to check on. Secondly, once arrived in the room and settled the bathroom was used. Right away there was a toilet issue! It barely flushed! Called front desk assuming our room would be changed and it wasn't! Instantly annoyed and frustrated that we've paid a pretty penny to be here and not instantly accommodated. Maintenance came and it was barely fixed. Someone came to room after midnight because we couldn't flush. And we still weren't given a new room. Only was told to wait until the maintenance manager arrives in the morning. Now, it's Tuesday morning and he comes and switches a part on the toilet. All is good! ...for a little while. Unfortunately, it barely flushed again! At this point I'm over it and want my money back or a new room. My husband figured most of the rooms were the same and didn't want to bother switching and have same problem 😕 Now it's Wednesday morning and we want to travel to see family on the island but have to wait for maintenance before we can get kids ready and use the restroom etc. This is when we were told we could possibly get a room change but we left for the day and never heard anything about it again. After he fixed toilet it will work for 2-3 flushed then back up again! When we reached out room after traveling for the day of course what happened....it was backed up again! I called desk about 1 am and asked for a plunger.

We arrived on Sunday. Paid for the upgrade. For the last two days we are in the room without hot water. They clearly have issues and these problems are not fixable. If you do not need hot shower in the room, then you will be fine. Otherwise stay away from this hotel. We were in Riu Palace twice and never had any issues. This resort is a disaster.

I wish there was more authentic Jamaican food. The jerk chicken hut located on the beach was nothing but rotisserie chicken with a side of jerk sauce. There could have been better menu options. There were times we just walked out of the dining hall because there was nothing edible to eat. We relied heavily on the beef patties which was not always available. The rum punch from the bar tasted different each time. The facility was clean and the staff was friendly but if you are looking for good food I wouldn’t recommend this resort.

Property was nice at best. Advertised as a 5 star. Would rate it at a 3. Rooms are outdated and smell like mold. Dining was adequate. Staff were unfriendly and lazy at times. Others were fantastic. Beach had a lot of sand flies. Was not groomed by hotel. Main pool was over crowded. Adult pool was empty but kids were not aloud to go in.

This property was a great location with a good beach. Rooms were fine. The dining was consistently terrible for all 5 days we were there. Buffets consistently looked like a food safety risk, so we skipped much of it. The main restaurants menus were extremely poorly executed. Starter courses usually cold, and entrees typically bad cuts of meat and warm at best. One desert was a little Debby brownie from a gas station store with a scoop of ice cream. Bar tenders never made a drink the same way twice. We had a much better experience dining off the property. Honestly I would have preferred if this wasn’t all inclusive because I would gladly stay there if dining off campus was easy. Despite all of this we made the most of it and had a good time. They definitely need to tighten up the dining and bar services.

Very clean and staff was friendly and always helpful.All areas were beautiful. Food was great and plenty of seating at beach and pool. They offer a catamaran cruise from their beach. The negatives: no elevators and toilet needed to be fixed.

The RIU is a decent option. I would stay again. I will give it a 4.5. The front desk reception is awesome and Tameka is great. Garfield in the main dinning hall was great, awesome service. The food options are good--the buffet was good and the native food was better. Drinks were my issue! When I mean NOTHING close to top-self or medium self, nothing! If beefeaters type liquor is your thing, then you'll enjoy. Trust me, I am not being uppity. For example, basic Jamaican Appleton Rum, it was non-existent. Or even Kettle one Vodka or Jamieson. I think RIU should upgrade the liquor selection, as I heard RIU is doing some upgrades on the property this year. Last thing, was difficult to get a reservation for the specialty restaurants on the app. Maybe IT can fix that or open more spaces for people to try to eat. In my 3 days there, I was unable to eat at any of those places. All in all, it was a good experience.
