Enchanting hotel on the shores of Negril

Posted Jul 11, 2016
Our overall experience at Tensing Pen was just fantastic!! The staff made us feel welcomed from the first minute of arrival and the rest of the stay was just as enjoyable. Need to mention Mr. D the security on nite duty and the Bar tender, Owen. Would recommend Tensing Pen for anyone looking to enjoy their vacation at their own pace-the place is laid back but in a good location to facilitate a host of activities from music on bourbon beach, glass bottom boat, or the world famous Ricks cafe.

Spectacular yet laid back, great value

Posted Feb 1, 2016
Pros: The atmosphere, the food (great inclusive breakfast with loads of inexpensive add ons if you must), the dogs (we love Beezy) and the staff...
Cons: Not much but it's Jamaica so it's not going to be like Palm Beach (thank goodness)
Location: West End Road is the rocky "end" of Jamaica. All the "hip" places are nearby. Perfect!
If you love sand then Tensing Pen is not for you. If you love exotic, laid back and friendly and are pleased not to have to get the sand off everything then this extraordinary hotel woven in to the rocks with jumps and dives in to the clear blue ocean is SO for you.

My favourite spot in Negril

Posted Jan 18, 2016 on Hotels
This property is gorgeous. Hammocks under the huts on the cliffs, lots to explore, the awesome bridge over the water. There are plenty of comfy chairs and sofas by the bar/restaurant with a beautiful view over the pool and the cliffs. No beach here, but the hustle and bustle of the beach isn't far. Perfect for a relaxing holiday.

What started mildly disrupting with construction work in another room ended up being a most relaxing and wonderful three nights. Great handling by manager Josef and we really miss the three Rhodesian ridgebacks they have always on the property, superfriendly. Massage is highly recommended.

This hotel defines paradise at its best.

Posted Jan 6, 2016
Pros: The location is spectacular, the water temperature is perfect and the views at sunset are impossible to beat.
Of all the places we stayed with travelling the Mexican coast, Bahamas and Jamaica, Tensing Pen in Negril was by far the best. The staff are all friendly and helpful, the food is great and the views and location are just wow!

Best Beach hotel ever

Posted Dec 31, 2015
Pros: The setting and the architecture
Cons: Everything was perfect. The safety of some cliffs might not be good for little children
Location: It is very close to Ricks Cafe
This hotel was gorgeous, with the most spectacular views of the ocean. The pool was beautiful, the individual cottages were really gorgeous, the beds were exyremely comfortable and the restaurant was great--we had a wonderful family Christmas there.

The resort I would have designed in my dreams

Posted Dec 29, 2015
Pros: The location, the garden filled grounds, the restaurant, cliff jumping
Cons: Work with the construction crews to manage the timing
Location: Explore the other shops, restaurants and bars on the cliff road. Visit 7 mile beach. Swim and snorkel right from the hotel.
Tensing Pen is the perfect escape. This tiny resort with the cottages scattered across the property provides a perfect taste of Jamaica. The location on the cliffs is gorgeous and starting each morning with a swim from the cliffs is ideal. The staff is friendly and helpful. The restaurant is quite delicious for those days that you want to relax and not wander afield. However there are several other resorts with amazing restaurants and little local bars and eateries near by that you can easily walk to. There was construction going on in the cottage next door which was a bit noisy and disruptive as they started very early and continued late into the evening, however the beautiful rooms and updated decor is evident throughout. We stayed in Garden A, which is one of the more reasonably priced rooms, and was lovely. It did not suffer at all for the lack of beach view as the garden is beautiful and the ocean only a short walk away.
