Amazing PlacePosted May 2, 2015 on Hotels
This was a beautiful, serene place to stay. It was off the beaten path, but we easily arranged a shuttle to town. The ocean view was gorgeous, and the staff were wonderful - particularly Santoni. The room was great, and it was incredible to have our own terrace with an ocean view. There was no question about the commitment to customer service here, and the staff were genuine and very friendly. What a great value and a great experience. I'd come back for a couple of weeks to decompress.

Perfect Retreat Away From Tourist "Attractions"Posted Mar 24, 2015
Pros: Privacy and intimacy is unsurpassed. No distractions, just the Caribbean pounding against the cliffs. It was clean, affordable and friendly.
Cons: Need small convenience store in restaurant with travel sized toiletries and OTC pharmaceuticals. Office should be open longer hours.
Location: It is at the very end of West End Road. The hotel provides a shuttle for $3.50 USD to go to 7 mile beach and beyond. Definitely off the beaten path.
Found it a peaceful, quiet, resort at the end of West End Road. There were no tourist traps nearby. This was perfect for writing (I did 2 chapters). A rather aggressive uphill 4 mile walk takes you into the hills where both expats and working class Jamaicans live. This was totally enjoyable experience. You can not swim in the Caribbean at the resort because of the cliffs over which it is built. However there is a salt water pool and an Olympic sized swimming pool, both kept sparking clean. An ample beach is provided over the cliffs for sunbathing.

Very relaxing, even other guests were pleasant!Posted Mar 21, 2015
Enjoyed next time staying longer. Puuuuurrrrfect place to unwind, waves crashing on shore is like a lullaby at nights. Whenever you wake, it's a feeling of rejuvenation. Staff was friendly and service was great... Big ups to Sheldon, dude with the straw hat, front desk clerk and her daughter Drika and housekeeping lady, I took a pic with. One of our best vacation, keep up the good work Westender Inn management and staff!

Rough beauty on the reefsPosted Mar 6, 2015 on Hotels
Westender Inn is a very nice hotel based on the cliffside of Negril. One should be prepared that is far from basically everything, however the hotel provides a very flexible and cheap shuttle buss to the town or whereever you want to go. I enjoyed the stay very much, but my teenage daugther thought it was a bit too quiet - Especially because the WIFI was not very good... a very important feature in a young womans life:-) I combined the stay at the cliffs with some days at a hotel on the 7mile beach, and I am personally very happy to have experienced both spectacular scenaries. I would like to draw the attention to the yoga retreat next door: Jackie on the reefs. Fantastic place with open yoga sessions 8.30 every morning for 20US. And! very good breakfast and lunch. Worth a visit!!

The basics are there...Posted Mar 4, 2015
I'm satisfied with the choice I made to stay here. I would have thought for the price we paid we should get a small fridge and microwave...separate charges apply for this accomodation, but it is available for $5/day, for each appliance. This place is very safe, but also very serene. I would suggest if for those who want to be in Jamaica and not really experience Jamaica. It is quite a walk into the towns and tourist areas of Negril. As this is on the cliffs, you will need to travel to get to a beach. The happening spots are about 5-10 km from here, and the road is fair at best. They do offer a shuttle to cover most of this ground (and through one rough area of town) for the price of $7 per couple per way. It's...ok The people staying there were really friendly. The staff helped me by giving me a bag of ice after I injured myself at Rick's Cafe belly-flopping off of a cliff. the ice really helped reduce the massive bruising. If you want social go somewhere closer to the town center. If you want serenity and peace, come out here.

A hidden gem in the West End...Posted Feb 18, 2015 on Hotels
I stayed at the Westender Inn for two nights as I was in town for a wedding. The wedding I was coming for was for only 3 nights at an all inclusive resort in Negril. Three nights was not nearly enough time to be on the island. So I opted to come in 2 days early and chose the Westender. I wanted a more authentic experience and I wanted to be away from the touristy stuff. And the Westender was a great choice. I stayed in room 10. Which had an awesome view of the ocean and the sunset/sunrise. The room was clean. The staff was awesome and friendly. And I felt safe the entire time (as I was traveling alone). There is a shuttle that takes you into town and drops you off. Kemer the driver was such a sweetie! And JoJo, the young lady who worked the front desk was truly a pleasure. I would definitely stay here again. And have already suggested it to other people. If you're looking for a resort, this isn't it. But if you're looking for relaxation, serenity, a great view this is your place.

Romantic place for couplesPosted Dec 30, 2014
Cons: Needs more conveniences since it is so far away from them (ie. refrigerator for rooms, vending machines)
Overall this is a decent option. It's pretty isolated out on the west end, so I'd recommend not booking unless you have a rental car or other transport options. Also, you will need to stock up on water, beers, etc. before you get there. We arrived at 10p and the office/restaurant were closed, and no convenience shops nearby. The room does not have a refrigerator though I think it is possible to rent one. Other than that and the fact that the cable was out for our entire stay, I would recommend the place. It has nice hammocks on the porches, very nice sea views, especially at sunset. Lots of nice little private nooks to sit in. Nice pool area. The towels were scratchy and the water smelled bad, but there was good water pressure and hot water.
