Friendly
I couldn't stay in the end because of flight cancellation (due to bad weather), but they were very friendly and easy to deal with. Hoping to visit on a subsequent trip - looks great.

Hi Andrew, Thanks for your stay with us. We do have a big range of rooms here at Warwick House. The room you booked is the smallest that we have here and it is priced the lowest. Although it does have a Queen double bed, it is smaller that the other rooms and mostly this booked by single travelers. Although that room is small there are many other areas of the house, including 3 deck and verandah areas that you have use of as a guest here. Kind regards Nick Ferrier

The owner gave us an ugrade as a freebie. Though we qualify for the free Mapua-Rabbit island ferry it was not given to us, so do not be misled as they only offer this every summer. When I ask for change sheets, the second sheet stained was not replaced, bathroom was not cleaned for room service for the whole time we were there, unless I leave a note, thats the only time they top up teas, water and new towels. As a professional hotel housekeeping supervisor, I suggest for them to look after the cleanliness

Hi, As you were in the room most of the day, we did ask you if you wanted a room service. We were disappointed that you left large blood stains on both sets of sheets that we gave you and even the duvet cover. The Mapua Rabbit Island ferry only operates on weekends in winter - This is not a benefit offered when you book special offers via an online website.

Our hosts were very welcoming and helpful, with lots of great tips about places to eat and activities to do in the area. The tower room was absolutely fantastic, with a big bath tub, great heating and a comfy sitting room. Everything was very clean. The only (minor) issue was that the bed was very creaky. It was only a 10-15 minute walk into the centre of Nelson, so very easy access to some excellent bars, cafes and restaurants.

Gracious hosts. Great breakfast in lovely dining room. Only draw back - we had rented a room with a double bed and a twin. The twin was a pullout sofa and wasn't very comfortable for sleeping on. Otherwise everything else was PERFECT!

Beautiful old building with modern amenity
We stayed at Warwick House before doing the Great Taste Trail over 5 days. Our hosts were great, with some great ideas about what to see and do in Nelson, as well on during our bike trip. The rooms really had character but in a stylish and modern way. Would highly recommend.

Nice hotel, close to the Nelson city
Very cozy and quiet hotel. The owners are very nice and supportive. They booked for us a tour in Abel Tasman Nationalpark and gave us great restaurant recommendations in Nelson. We stayed for three days and really enjoyed our time in the hotel.

Nice stay
Nice stay, beautiful grounds, 5 minute walk to town. The room smelt a little musty, and internet connection a little dodgy on the end unit. Room is huge and has great heating for the cold night. I would stay here again as this has residence a great history, and the host was very helpful with local knowledge and where to dine etc. Thanks again.

1 night in Nelson
We thought from the pictures this looked an intriguing place to stay and so it proved. This was a lovely location about 10 mins walk from restaurants, and was set in some lovely gardens. The room was clean and extremely comfortable, and importantly, quiet so we had an excellent nights sleep. Nick was an excellent host, and our only regret was that we were only staying 1 night. Would certainly stay at Warwick House again

Quirky
We chose to stay because the building is an iconic one but it's old and while we expected old outside, we expected the inside to be more modern. It's not completely terrible but the room we were given smelt damp and leaving windows and doors open while we were there and leaving the heater on did not remove the smell. It was also very dark and even with the lights on it was dim. We could only use wifi in one tiny corner of the room which was not very convenient either. The bed was comfortable enough but the sheets felt old and and worn. Too authentically old for comfort. The owners were very nice and very helpful but it's not a place we'd go back to again. Sorry!!

Thanks for the feedback. As Warwick House is one of the oldest private homes in New Zealand, we have tried very hard to keep everything as authentic as possible and this is what most of our guests over 15 years have enjoyed the most. The historic places trust have requested that we don't 'modernize' the building inside. Everything is very functional, its' just not modern aircon, 'double sinks' build in lights' etc. Sorry you were here during a very wet period of the year, that doesn't help your holiday.

Great check in experience. Staff was helpful and friendly. Rooms are unique and comfortable. Bathroom was clean and looked like it had been recently updated. Plumbing was a bit noisey and a shared kitchen which was just outside the room and had the potential to be noisey. About a pleasant 20 minute walk to restaurants. Overall it was a pleasant stay.

Historic B&B
The Warwick House is a very nice historic building which has been turned into a B&B. Friendly environment and a very accommodating staff. We did a lot of touring up to Abel Tasman National Park so did not spend time enjoying gardens or house. It is a 15 minute walk into town which requires you to plan your day carefully. We would stay there if we were to come back to Nelson.

An amazing historic house with many beautiful rooms, but we ended up in the cheapest looking room on the basement level which was not the one we booked through Wotif, the bed was comfortable but the room felt damp and cold and it shared a kitchenette with another room, plus one small bottle of milk dated with one month expired. Nice sunny separate breakfast area

New Favorite Place it Nelson
The owners were so lovely and kind and the building is absolutely beautiful. It is a short walk into downtown Nelson but feels very quiet and relaxed in a residential area.

One night only but a delightful character hotel. Limited facilities but charming and in a very quiet residential area. My only small issue was that the TV was very tiny - I dont expect a huge one but'it could be a bit bigger.

We got upgraded to the Tower Room ...wow .The tower is just an amazing space .The rooms are very private and nice and quiet.The only downside was the shower ,bit old and needs updating .They serve a fantastic breakfast and the owners are fantastic.We would stay here again as we loved the history of the place .Recommend this place

Great experience to stay here. Did find it a bit disappointing that there was no warm areas inside (no lounge area) to just sit and enjoy the ambience of the venue. Our room had no table and only one chair and was quite cold despite a column heater (was winter tho).

Nostalgic return to a bygone Era
Loved the look of Warwick House so was a bit disappointed to have an outside room. It was very comfortable down to underfloor heated bathroom tiles (only heated 1 of the 2 nights?) Was not able to connect to the Internet from the room and room service only related to breakfast. Without transport a bar fridge and snacks would have been helpful. Fortunately close enough to walk (15 mins) to restaurants with Melbourne House cafe (9am-4pm) even closer! Breakfast in the ballroom was excellent.... Fire roaring - albeit gas, classical music playing and very pleasant hosts and staff. If my room was inside the hotel where Internet was available, I would've rated my entire experience as excellent!

Beautiful building
It was lovely to be taken back in time so stylistically. Warwick House had a great atmospheric and old world charm. It was a very easy place to stay. and was very private and quiet. And the claw foot bath was a hit.

Nice hotel if you are into old
Hotel got my booking wrong re how many beds I requested when I made the booking. Refused a refund as they offered to put an extra bed in the room ... made the room really small. Overall a clean and tidy place, but as with any old building and furnishings it has a stuffy smell to it.

Hi Anne, Warwick House is a very important heritage building. It has taken a lot of effort to be able to open it to guests. We are sorry you didn't enjoy it as other guests do. The smallest room that you booked does show it is only a double. If extra rooms has still been available then we would have offered these to you.

Warwick House
We stayed 2 nights at Warwick House and wished we could have stayed longer. Joanna was incredibly accommodating and did everything she could to make our stay enjoyable. We loved the tower suite with living area in the turret. It was a superb place, one of the best we've ever stayed in and for that great value too. Nelson was our favourite town.

Although our room was nice, it was unfortunate that we were ubable to enjoy the beauty of this 1850's home as there was limited access to common areas such as the ballroom to enjoy a tea or wine. The WIFI to our room was broken during our stay, coverage could only be gained on front porch.

Dear Em, Very sorry to hear that you weren't able to access the lovely ballroom here in the afternoon. Normally we leave it open to all guests to enjoy. Also there is a lovely viewing verandah upstairs. We have since changed to a more efficient WIFI system that covers nearly all of the property with 2 separate aerials.

Sadly a neglected beauty
Disappointing, as the building looked so impressive online. Reception area dirty, had to wait ages before someone came to greet us on arrival. Room smelt musty, no ice trays in fridge, towels were very faded and scruffy. Good location and some helpful local knowledge from owner.

A surprise venue for my partners birthday. The venue certainly looks impressive from the web site and upon arrival. The room presented itself as one would expect given marketing material available.
