Excellent location in downtown New BernPosted Aug 1, 2015
We had a wonderful view on the patio for drinks and dinner. Plenty of shopping and great places to eat within walking distance.

The staff was fantastic. Anything we need the quickly accommodated us. My brother's friend arrived for the deck party. Once we explained to the front desk that there were no handicap parking spaces the front desk attendant moved her own car without hesitation.

The staff at the hotel was friendly and willing to help. But the hallways were hot the rooms were showing age and the elevator seem to have some problems.

DisappointingPosted Jul 13, 2015
Pros: Great view. Great location. Peaceful and relaxing being on the marina.
Cons: Working air conditioners. Screens on terrace doors. Adequate details like shower curtains.
Location: Right in the heart of down town New Bern Proper (historic district). Walk right into shops, dining, entertainment.
The marina view created a peaceful and inviting environment. The hotel itsellf is placed ideally at the water end of the historic district. We booked two rooms with a terrace and got one on either side, both pleasing to the eye. Be warned however that there are shockingly no screens on the terrace doors to allow the door to be opened or chair to sit out there with. Definitely not a child safe environment! We arrived earlier than expected (appx. 11am) and could not get in or even purchase an additional day to get in and get some rest. We were made to wait outside until 3pm. It was quite evident and even expressed later that there were rooms available. Perhaps no one cleans the rooms until right before? Two out of three of the women at the front desk could use a lesson in 'Southern Charm' but the rest of the staff was friendly and accommodating. The keys were temperamental. We were also knowingly (we discovered later) given a room with a malfunctioning air conditioner which was eventually replaced with a barely competent one.... and we could not open the terrace for air! The rooms were modestly clean. The room with the king size bed offered more 'accommodations' like soaps, tp, etc. but strangely, no shower curtain... at least that air conditioner worked. ... and no continental breakfast. While you can't beat its location, I felt that given the circumstances, we would look for another option next time.

In an excellent town to walk around in.Posted Jun 17, 2015
Pros: The employees and the quiet surroundings.
Cons: I really can not think of anything.
Location: I just enjoyed the walking, shops and the good food.
I was in New Bern for a very exciting event, the graduation of my Grandson. The DoubleTree Inn gave me the perfect place to relax and unwind when I had to. The town of New Bern is a wonderful town to just walk around and relax. The Hotel was very clean and comfortable but most of all the employees were so very curious and seem so very happy, which makes me believe that the company give them reason to be happy.

Right on the waterPosted Jun 6, 2015
Pros: Hotel was very nice, nice location right on the marina. Staff was very nice and food was good. Check in and check out was very easy.
Cons: Rug in room was ready to be updated along with tub. Other than that beds were very comfortable and view was excellent, had a great stay.
Location: Pepsi was invented there and you could visit the pharmacy where that took place. Alot of places to eat and shops. Nice marinia and river walkway
Great visit, New Bern is a very nice town with alot of great shops and resturants. Everyone wemet was very friendly and we were right on the water with great views. We would go back again tomorrow.

1 persons excellent servicePosted Jun 3, 2015
Pros: great location in the downtown area, walking distance to everything, restaurant was good and reasonably priced
Location: Tryon palace is 2 blocks a way.
Marquis saved our trip. We spent 2 nights at the Double Tree and on our first night discovered an issue with the bed causing my husband and I to both constantly roll towards the middle. We reported the issue the next morning to the front desk and no action was taken even though they said someone would check it out while we were gone. We discovered nothing had been done after returning from a day of sightseeing and went back to the front desk. Marquis was at our room before my husband made it back from the front desk and had us moved to a new room in less than 30 min as the bed fix would take much longer. This was a perfect example of excellent customer service!

Meh.Posted May 31, 2015 on Hotels
Delayed check-in, no towels in room, no access to advertised deck off of room. A perfectly respectable hotel, but lost points on a lot of details that are pretty standard operating procedure. When you get to a hotel after a long day of driving and take shower, only to find that there are only hand towels in the room. That's tough.

Komfortables & bezahlbares Hotel direkt am WasserPosted May 28, 2015

The hotel is the place to stay in NB. Excellent location fronting the river and marina. The deck is great for just relaxing and listening to music if scheduled. All historic attractions are within walking distance as well as restaurants. We took the tug boat tour up the Trent river which was enjoyable but not what you envision a tug boat to be. It was small with seating for about 8 and rocked a lot due to river traffic. There are other tours which might be more comfortable. The tour was great for seeing high end housing along the river, Nicholas Sparks 40k sq ft home. Would be a tedious trip for small children. Take the bigger boat. New Bern is loaded with history but nothing to do for small children. The Doubltree does have a nice pool but that's about it for kids.
