Le Marais (the swamp in French), is a few doors off Bourbon Street and when we saw Bourbon Street we thought it would be noisy but it was very quiet. We were tucked away from the Street and within walking distance of almost everything in the French District. The continental breakfast was just right for the start of the day but it did not start until 7:30 am and could be a bit late for early risers. Some of the best food in the area was almost next door (Oceana) and seating was a premium but being next door that was not a problem. The Street Car access was very convenient with only a few blocks to make connections with all three lines (Canal, St. Charles, and River Front). The Mississippi River (four blocks away) had a wonderful River Walk and places to sit and watch the River go by and the evenings were especially delightful. A great view of the New Orleans sky line is seen from Algiers Point at night and is a $2 ride on a ferry about 6 blocks away.
