The Swamp

Posted Sep 15, 2016
Pros: It was very clean and had a great staff at the front desk. It was quiet and the maid service was excellent. The personnel was very friendly.
Cons: The hot water for tea the first morning had a coffee taste and ruined my morning tea. Be sure the hot water is not put into a former coffee pot.
Location: Wow, Bourbon Street is a must see item. Preservation Hall, O'Brian's piano bar, Natchez Steamboat, French Market, Musical Legends Park, Café Du Monde
Le Marais (the swamp in French), is a few doors off Bourbon Street and when we saw Bourbon Street we thought it would be noisy but it was very quiet. We were tucked away from the Street and within walking distance of almost everything in the French District. The continental breakfast was just right for the start of the day but it did not start until 7:30 am and could be a bit late for early risers. Some of the best food in the area was almost next door (Oceana) and seating was a premium but being next door that was not a problem. The Street Car access was very convenient with only a few blocks to make connections with all three lines (Canal, St. Charles, and River Front). The Mississippi River (four blocks away) had a wonderful River Walk and places to sit and watch the River go by and the evenings were especially delightful. A great view of the New Orleans sky line is seen from Algiers Point at night and is a $2 ride on a ferry about 6 blocks away.

Ended better than it started

Posted Aug 31, 2016
First I would like to say that Erica at the front desk is amazing. She made sure explain everything to us about the fees and deposit, swapped our room to a better one with no additional charge. The hotel wasn't what we expected, but the staff and location made up for where they lack.

Hotel bien placé

Hôtel bien placé pour se promener à pied dans le vieux carré. Seul bémol : lit en 140 pour 2 personnes dans la chambre familiale pour 4.
