This is one of the coolest places to stay in NOLA. They did an excellent job preserving the history of the jail house with thoughtful details and fun decor throughout the inn. The common area is spacious and welcoming like a big house, beautiful kitchen area, lots of tables and seats 3 pianos and occasional musicians popping on to play a tune. The roof deck is wonderful for enjoying a beverage and some chill time. The 20min walk to the French Quarter and charming. Todd our host is the best and will give you great recs. We'd definitely come back to stay at the Jail House!

The building itself is beautiful, and has amazing historical charm. The host is very accommodating and friendly. However, it is advertised that there is a breakfast. There was coffee, and bananas. But there was no breakfast to speak of. So that was a bit of a disappointment. We were warned by our taxi driver that the area was not safe to walk around. The area did appear a bit run down. However, I couldn’t say for sure about the safety as we did not walk around we took an Uber everywhere.

Hi Krista! Thanks for the message. I'm so sorry for the confusion - we don't advertise breakfast on our website - but I just realized after reading your review that here on Expedia we had a box checked for 'free breakfast' which isn't exactly accurate (like you mentioned, (we offer organic fruits and local artisanal coffee). Funny thing is we aren't actually allowed to serve hot breakfast by city ordinance based on our zoning ... Again I'm so sorry for the mixup and I've fixed that in the Expedia portal so there's no further confusion. Also re safety, the Treme has become one of the safest neighborhoods in New Orleans across the board statistically, which is just fantastic and we're so excited about that! Was great to meet you!

Great place to stay.
The Inn at the Old Jail is exactly what it says. A fantastic place to stay with authentic feel and original features. Todd our host was brilliant and very knowledgeable about the history of the building plus gave us very useful information about what to do and where to eat etc. We could not really fault this place to stay with its quirky feel and historical vent which includes various memorabilia from its past use.

The Inn at the Old Jail is a unique historic botique hotel, with tremendous character and charm. The host of the Inn is very knowledgeable about New Orleans and makes you feel like a guest in his home! We had a wonderful time in New Orleans and wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else next time we visit!

Very nice place to stay. Not the normal "hotel". It is beautiful inside and just the history behind the Inn. If we ever come back I would definitely stay here again. I could see where parking could be an issue as it is in a residential area. We were lucky and parked right out front.

Cool, neat venue in an old jail, double Queen bed room was spacious! Todd, the owner was so sweet and responded quickly to any need and gave us a tour of the place to boot! Very nice that there’s a kitchen downstairs with cereal, dishes, snacks available and fridge to store drinks and leftovers! Parking was right in front, it is located in a newer part of Treme’ being redeveloped to be safer, we felt safe at that location but be careful any part of NOLA!

I can’t say enough good things about the Inn! The Innkeeper, Todd, was awesome! He took us on a tour of the Inn sharing all the buildings history. I enjoyed seeing all the antiques throughout the Inn. The neighborhood was quiet and away from the crowds, but only a 10 minute drive from all the action of New Orleans. The rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. I highly recommend this place. I will stay here again the next time I’m in town.

Fantastic!
We had an amazing stay! Todd was a terrific host who was really attentive to our comfort and took time to get to know us. He gave great advice on places to visit and to eat. We loved the tour of this incredible, historic building, which is stunning. We highly recommend pausing each morning to enjoy coffee on the rooftop deck! We couldn't have chosen a better place to stay.

Slightly off the beaten path but worth it. Owners take pride in the property and show it. Common areas are extremely clean, very functional and thematically appropriate. Bed was comfy with great pillows. Owners provide water bottles and snacks. Would have to take me away in handcuffs to stay somewhere else. Just a very cool place at a reasonable price. Would stay again! As for the tour!

Get away from the craziness of Bourbon St
Beautifully appointed Inn in Treme that was restored by Liz and Raul. Great place to stay if you want to be away from the rat race of Bourbon street and want to learn more about the local color of New Orleans. Walking distance to historic local eateries (Dokie Chase, Willie Mae's Scotch House, Parkway bakery), it's about a half hour walk to Bourbon St.

I cannot say enough good things about Inn at the Ild Jail. I have stayed all over NOLA for years and it was by far the most comfortable and inviting lodging yet. I actually asked for a referral for the mattress! Will definitely be back to Liz and Co. Best hosts around!

We loved this property so much and it’s so unique. Liz is amazing and knows so much about the area and the history of the jail. I was so impressed when we got there. The rooms are pretty big, bathrooms are clean and the beds are so comfy. On a side note we are both military and left them with a patch from our MAJCOM. They have an awesome showcase of memorabilia for front line works and we wanted to add to it.

The owners, Liz and Raul, were so incredibly welcoming, it felt like we were visiting old friends! This is a very unique and important restoration that was obviously a labor of love. The bed was super comfortable, and the fully-stocked commercial-grade kitchen was very convenient. There is a large, beautiful deck attached that was very relaxing in the later, cooler hours of late July in New Orleans. We will definitely be staying at the Inn at the Old Jail the next time we visit New Orleans, which we try to do every year. So much history is contained in this Old Jail, and we received a full tour with details of the restoration. We highly recommend the Inn at the Old Jail!

Fantastic Place to stay in NOLA
What a nice place to stay !! Highly recommend A++++ The owners are so nice and have put a lot of TLC into this place and it shows - we had a wonderful stay here. Quick cheap Uber to downtown or just walk like we did most of the time - enjoyed walking through the tiny neighborhoods in Treme. Kudos to Liz and Raul for a great place !!

Wow! Just Wow!
One of the best places I have ever stayed at. Lovingly restored over 3.5 years, Liz and Raoul have created a wonderful guest house keeping a lot of its original features. When we arrived, Liz gave us a guided tour and explained the history of the place and the stories behind the people who have rooms named after them. Both of them make you feel very welcome from the moment you arrive and have thought of everything to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. We were on honeymoon travelling across The States and this was by far our favourite place. We will be going back to “reoffend” as soon as we can.

We picked tne perfect place for our vacation in New Orleans. The Inn offered a lot of history and was kept incredibly clean. The owners were wonderful and friendly. They took a lot of pride in their Inn and even gave us a tour. I definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for a place with some history. Only a mile and a half walk to Bourbon Street.

This is an incredibly renovated old police station with an interesting history and deep community connections. It is not far from the trolly and very close to where the annual Jazz Festival is held. It is very clean and comfortable. The neighborhood is quiet. The owner/Inn keepers are gracious and friendly. It feels like visiting family. For musicians, I play the bagpipes, they welcome practice. The acoustics are amazing! Just be considerate and check with the Inn keeper before start your practice session. I highly recommend this Inn!

We had an amazing stay with Liz and Raul who made us feel like we were part of the family. It was so nice to have a tour of the building and history lesson on arrival and to see how much love has been poured into restoring the amazing building. We have stayed in a variety of places in NOLA and this is definitely on the top of our list. Liz was an absolute pleasure upon check in. Street parking was a breeze. The property is located in a quiet, safe neighborhood only a mile or 2 from the Quarter and main attractions. Liz and her husband take great pride in their property and it is very apparent with the cleanliness. Could not recommend this place enough! Will definitely stay here again and look forward to visiting with the owners again.

Historical gem in New Orleans
Historically fascinating and beautifully restored old neighborhood jail. The owners are gracious and helpful. The rooms were attractive, spacious, clean and comfortable. The neighborhood is typical of New Orleans, with some parts a bit spotty, but we would definitely stay there again. In fact, we hope to do so soon.
