Great French Quarter Location

Posted Apr 4, 2017
Pros: I liked the location (see above) to really get the feeling of the French Quarter. I enjoyed the historic character of the building and the room.
Cons: Do not expect a spacious bath. It has the needed fixtures and is compact, as one should expect with an older building.
Location: Jackson Square, Croissant d' Or, Cafe du Monde, Petite Theatre. Many restaurants. Convenient to public transportation if you are willing to walk.
The best feature is the location in the heart of the French Quarter on Ursulines between Royal and Bourbon. It is a 5-10 minute walk to Jackson Square & the French Market. The guest house is historically old. This may mean some sloping floors and wide pine board floors. Rooms have non-working fireplaces. All rooms open onto an interior courtyard with a hot tub. Air conditioning is effective and the beds comfortable. In room coffee but no breakfast on site. You can easily walk to Cafe du Monde or Croissant d' Or for traditional breakfast items in a French Quarter atmosphere. Staff are friendly and helpful. We were pleased with our stay. We did not have a car, and parking is likely a problem.

Good location. Pleasant staff.

Pros: Location
Although the staff wanted to help, the room just needed more dedicated TLC.

Hobbit hole

Posted Apr 1, 2017
Pros: Location
Cons: Parking
Location: In the heart of French Quarter but far enough away from Bourbon Street noise.
Entrance to room was a tiny space in between a/c units. Never stayed in a hotel room with no windows before! No fan in bathroom or room so little air circulating and with no window to let in light or air! Car park was $20 a night - and a long walk from hotel.

Thank you for your valuable feedback about your recent stay with us. We're glad you enjoyed our central location. We have ceiling fans in each room and exhaust fans in each bathroom, I am sorry they did not suit your needs. We'll be happy to reserve a different room for your next visit with the French Quarter Guest Houses. Just give us a call in advance and we'll find the perfect room for you. Until next time, happy travels!

Cheap but average quality hotel

Posted Mar 16, 2017
This is not a traditional hotel. This is just hotel renovated from a house. In order to turn on the heater, you need to turn on the fan. That's ridiculous but that's so true. I put my clean cloth on the bed but the hotel stuff who cleaned the room throw it on the floor. The pillows are dirty as you can see from the stain on it. You can't even use the plug in the room. So if you want to use coffee machine, you need to plug it in the bathroom. It's quite noisy during daytime and even night on the weekend. Maybe the only good thing is the reception stuffs are friendly.

Hello Shawn, Thank you for your feedback. I'm very happy to hear you found the hotel to be a good value and enjoyed interacting with our friendly staff. True, the Inn on Ursulines is not a traditional hotel in the sense that it is a historical property dating back to the 1820s. I'm not sure about the heater/fan comment nor the coffee machine/outlet. I certainly hope we were able to take care of those issues for you while you were in-house. We hope you enjoyed your time in New Orleans!

Unique

Impressive little cottage, close to all the action. Easy walking distance from everything in the French quarter. Clare the evening staff was extremely helpful and headed us in the right direction on evening meal and coffee shops for our 1st time in Nola.

The hotel staff were especially personable and helpful. They made me feel at home right away. The room was sparse but extremely clean and accessible to the area where I had my work and interest, e.g. the French Quarter. The sense of security was solid and the only comment I would make on this note is that the next time I stay there I will request a room within the courtyard area. My door actually opened directly onto the street. I was not bothered by but street noise could have easily been an issue and security might have plagued a less experienced traveler. Overall, the price was excellent and the room very clean and comtemporary.

Nice hotel/Inn on the edge of the Mardi Gras fun.

Posted Mar 7, 2017
Pros: Lots of character, love old classic hotels and inns
Cons: Parking was an issue (of course during Mardi Gras that's to be expected) we had to park for $50 a night about half a mile away.
Location: Bourbon Street is right there. Walking distance to Canal Street and Decature Street. Great food all around.
We stayed here for Mardi Gras 2017, close enough to be a part of everything with out having to stay in ground zero
