Nice, but ruined by quirks

Posted Feb 1, 2016
There were a lot of things I liked about the hotel - the lobby and bar area were nice, and we spent a lot of time hanging out there. The staff was nice and the hotel had a lot of character. A few issues ruined our stay though. There is absolutely no sound proofing in the rooms. We could hear even a normal conversation people next to and above us were having. The lobby had a very strong "fried" smell from the kitchen that smelled like a fast food restaurant. Unfortunately, it seemed like this smell was piped directly into our room which got pretty strong and disgusting after a few days. Hopefully they fix this soon, but one elevator was broken while we were there, and there was always a long wait for the other one. If they could fix these issues, would be a great hotel - but I definitely won't be going back.

Nice & Friendly!

Posted Jan 17, 2016
Pros: Rooms. Location. Quietness.
This is a bit of a quirky boutique hotel. The front desk is located next to the restaurant/bar, and then you have to go across the street to the rooms. Once you do so, there is a funky public area, complete with a mini-shuffleboard table. But it works! Maybe I should say it's cool rather than quirky. The staff were all friendly, the room was clean and comfortable, and the location was convenient to the French Quarter, but far quieter than the Quarter. We stayed 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed the stay. The restaurant menu is limited (as is the space), but the menu is congenial enough. We'll be back.

Average hotel

Not bad. Had loud banging coming from roof every half an hour. Nothing done about it. No light in entrance to room. Awkward for suitcases as no room in bedroom either. Steer clear

Brand new with good location

Posted Dec 4, 2015
Pros: Brand new and location
Cons: Water in shower, cold.
Location: Centre of city. Close to train.
Great hotel with one exception. Water takes forever to get even warm. Close to DART station which makes it easy and cheap to airport.
