My friend and I really appreciated Michelle, front desk, and Pedro, bellman. They made us feel welcome the minute we got there and were really helpful helpful with suggestions. Every time they saw us passing through they always had a smile and joked around with us. The rest of the staff were courteous too but Michelle and Pedro were the best

Lovely St James

Location: Perfect location just blocks from everything.
The St James is a lovely old building. It has it's quirks with creaky old wood floors and sloping rooms that make the dresser drawers stay open. But that is exactly what I liked about it. The beds were comfortable, the refrigerator was very cold and the air conditioner worked great. The "pool" is really just a fountain so don't expect to go swimming! The staff was very friendly and helpful! The sitting area is beautiful though you probably won't be sitting around! Overall, it was a positive experience and I would recommend staying here.

Staff is super friendly, the hotel lobby smells lovely, the common room is beautiful decorated, walking distance to everything! French quarter, bourbon street all with in walking distance and lastly the rooms are clean and you feel comforable.

It was a nice hotel in a quieter part of the city.

The hotel was outside of the french quarters, which made it more quiet and less chaotic. It was very close enough to walk. Machiel at the front desk was fantastic. She was very nice and accommodated our needs with a young child. She also gave fantastic advice on places to eat and directions.

I love this hotel !

The people, aesthetic and vibe of this hotel are beautiful. I received excellent service from beginning to end. I stayed a week! They bring croissants and coffee/juice and sweet butter to your room everyday if you would like! Self parking was an easy walk away. Also bars, music, restaurants and shopping were close. I loved it!

Amazing boutique hotel.

Hotel was close to everything. Chophouse restaurant next door. Hotel staff was the best I have ever experienced! We were there for the jazz fest and will always go back to the St James.

Don't stay here!!!

I am an avid traveler and am not one to usually complain. However, this was the worst hotel Experience I've ever had. There are two buildings and our room was on the first floor of the second building. Every time someone entered the building our door (completely closed) would make a sound like it was slamming shut. Needless to say this was nonstop all day and night. Our room wall was thin and on the other side of the wall/window was an alleyway. Very questionable people were in this alleyway at all times having very inappropriate conversations. At one point it sounded like they were right outside the window. When I opened the blinds they were indeed leaning on our windowsill having a conversation. It rained two of the nights we were there. I woke up because I sounded like the shower was on. There was a leak in the wall somewhere behind the shower and a significant amount of water was leaking into the wall. The cherry on top of the cake was the second to last day they changed our linens. One towel was stained with blood. When my friend washed her face, she went to dry her face only to find a bedbug on the hand towel. No other rooms where available to us. The manager called once while I was at work. I have tried to call him back several times and he has never answered the phone or called me back. Out of all this we were not offered any of our money back. We were offered a free drink at the bar for our inconvenience. Awful hotel!

Memorable One Night Stay

Pros: The area is so convenient.
Cons: A little sprucing of the courtyard area would be good. Dead plants were gross. I enjoyed sitting there but it is not that pretty.
Location: Walk to the St. Charles street car or into the Quarter. Café Du Monde a 10-15 minute walk. Lots of grocery type stores nearby. Ruby Slipper for brunch
We needed a one night rental before meeting a larger group for Jazz Fest. We enjoy the Warehouse/Financial district. This hotel is close to everything. You can easily walk to the Quarter as well as the St. Charles street car. It is a smaller boutique type hotel. Their service mimics that as well. Check in was easy, fast but very personable. Questions about the area were answered and suggestions were made. There is a small courtyard with a fountain and steps?. I wasn't sure if anyone ever would swim in there!. I did, however, put my very sore feet in after a long walk we made to the ferry and all over Algiers! The continental breakfast, delivered to your room, was a big plus! They actually let you choose the delivery time. It was clean and quiet. It is very close to the Ruby Slipper-BEST BREAKFAST in Nola! Worth the wait.
