Nice hotel near fun stuff in New Orleans

Posted Dec 5, 2016
Pros: Ambiance, location, amenities on site.
Cons: The room walls were a little thin, we could hear our neighbors easily.
Location: Great location. Fulton Alley nearby. Harrah's Casino. Barcadia. Great restaurant on site.
We live nearby but love to play tourist in our own city. We like to try different places to eat/stay/play. This hotel was great! Quirky, eclectic and fun. Old architecture meets modern comfort and amenities. Very unique place to stay and will definitely stay again.

Thank you kindly for the excellent review of our hotel. I am so glad that you had a great time while in New Orleans. You are welcome to stay with us anytime and we look forward to seeing you again soon. I love that you play tourist in your own city to see the city in a different light, I might have to try that. Happy Holidays

Not cookie cutter but also maybe not for everyone

Posted Dec 5, 2016
Pros: Good location. The warehouse district has many places to eat, and is quieter that the French Quarter, which is still very accessible by foot.
Cons: Maybe little more drawer space.
Stayed 5 nights. Speedy check-in. Martha at the front desk was great. Had a 2nd floor room in the "Lafayette" section. Navigated several twists and turns from the lobby to get to the elevator, and there were still several steps to descend on the 2nd floor to get to the room at the end of the hall. Loved the modern yet industrial feel decor. The dresser had only one drawer and 2 shelves for clothes, as the majority of it housed the mini bar and a safe. Bed was comfy. Liked the twin reading lamps attached to the upholstered king headboard. Additional lighting came from the dimmable ceiling fan or mini lamps on the dresser and the desk. . The bathroom shower stall had great subway-style tile on the walls and scalloped-shaped black slate tile on the floor, which all looked very cool, but the lack of a shower door meant water splashed all over the floor. One could hear the movement of guests in the room above as they walked on the uncarpeted, creaky old wooden floors, but I didn't really mind that --- maybe my ceiling mate was relatively quiet. Never heard toilets flushing or showers running in the other rooms, as I have heard in most other places I have stayed, Overall I thought the room was quiet. The 2nd floor ice machine was not functioning but when I asked whether there was ice available elsewhere, the front desk just had someone bring ice to the room. All hotel staff were respectful, helpful and friendly.

HI there, I agree 100% definitely not a cookie cutter, we break the mold, we are like those really funky cookies that you wanted to turn out circle but didn't. You pretty much said it all in your review of us. I am so glad you had a great time and thank you for the feedback on the drawer space. We are in the process of updating our showers and adding doors to the showers. Hopefully will be completed by Mardi Gras. Again thank you and I will be sure to let Martha know you thought she was great. Happy Holidays!

Great hotel, excellent location

Posted Dec 4, 2016
Pros: Location, ambiance
Cons: Coffee service in the lobby is very slow and overpriced, but you can easily walk to several other coffee shops
Location: Within walking distance of the river, French Quarter, WWII museum and more good restaurants than you can name.
Super friendly staff, great location, definitely NOT a chain hotel (that's a good thing), quiet, beautifully restored.

Thank you for the great feedback, sorry you had a wait for the coffee but glad you were able to get your morning fix. Sometimes during the conventions it can get really busy at the café. We appreciate all the excellent things you said about us and hope you will come see us again soon. Happy Holidays.

Beautiful hotel with the best staff!

Posted Nov 20, 2016
This hotel is absolutely gorgeous! We were on the fourth floor in a premier double room and it was everything we had hoped for it to be. It was large, quiet (but for some street noise on the weekends), comfortable - the mattresses and pillows were incredible. They give you an option for what kind of cleaning service you would like each day ranging from none to the whole works. The bathroom is smaller, but you shouldn't be spending a lot of time in there anyway so it didn't matter. The staff were absolutely wonderful. From the doorman to the front desk staff to the cleaning service/maintenance persons, they were all smiling, happy, and helpful at all times. Being treated like one of the family was enough to make me want to return and recommend this hotel to others. It is also within a short walking distance of the French Quarter, River walk, Arts/Factory district. If you are looking for a longer stroll, I would recommend wandering over to the Garden District. Thank you for a wonderful stay! I will be back:)

funky retro place

Posted Nov 19, 2016
Pros: Funky vibe, Great restaurant and hotel bar. Cool vintage drinks and yummy breakfast choices. great music in lobby and cool art to enjoy.
Cons: dirty. not disgusting dirty, just dusty dirty.
Location: we enjoyed the massage place close to canal street, good to get the muscles feeling better after all the walking.
Overall good place to stay at a great location. Not far from Bourbon and close to trolley stops. Neat places close by as well. The restaurant was the best! Great breakfast choices and the staff do a great job. We had drinks at night and the bartenders were friendly and fun. I mark the place down because it was dirty. Yes, it is a retro, 70's vibe but I think some of the dust is from the 70's. Our bathroom vent had a large amount of lint/dirt and the walls in the room were dust laddened as well and not just a little bit. The bed was clean and comfortable and the floors must have been clean because my socks did not get gross dirty. Overall, i would stay again for convenience and restaurant.

Very cool hotel but limited windows

Posted Nov 18, 2016
Pros: The atmosphere is great and we loved being able to benefit from refusing room service to earn dollars towards the honour bar.
Cons: We upgraded to a fake window, we should have been informed it was in fact, not a window but a pane of glass with curtains.
Location: The French Quarter and museums are within walking distance. The restaurant Mother's is also only half a block away.
This hotel is very cool and the staff were excellent. Definitely have a meal in the restaurant. They also provide a great service where if you refuse room service you earn $5 a day towards the room honour bar. Such a good incentive. Be aware that many of the rooms do not have windows. We paid extra for a window but unfortunately the "window" was simply a pane of glass with curtains that looked into an enclosed brick column (imagine if a chimney had glass panes looking INSIDE the chimney). Needless to say we didn't have any benefits that true windows offer and wish we didn't pay extra to "upgrade." If you do choose to upgrade, ensure it's a true window before you pay.

Hi there Kailey, thank you for your kind words and the great feedback. The window you speak of is known as a lightwell window, so the Deluxe Queens have lightwell windows. Because we are a warehouse the exterior windows are the Premium rooms and are limited in number. It is in fact a window that goes in between the buildings, so its a real window, just smaller window that doesn't look out on the streets. Again thank you for all the great feedback and hope you have a great day.

Old No. 77 Rocks

Posted Nov 10, 2016
Pros: Good size comfortable rooms and close to everything.
Cons: Better towels
Location: Eat & drink
Great hotel, close to convention center and great restaurants. In fact, Compere Lapin in the hotel is fantastic for both food and drinks.

Lots of character, great staff

Posted Nov 10, 2016
Location: Right in the heart of NOLA.
Hip "lofty" details galore, rough finishes, exposed pipes, creaky floors. Beds are good, bathroom was pretty clean, finishes make it difficult. Plenty of room but - no window. Yes, very quiet and dark but no connection to outdoors. Not for the clostrophobic!

Hip hotel in great location

Posted Nov 8, 2016
Pros: Location. Staff. Decor. Bar.
Cons: Noise level in rooms. Bathroom - water everywhere when showering, no counter space.
Location: Excellent location. Walk to the Quarter in 10 minutes and lots of restaurants within walking distance.
Like the title says, this hotel is very cool and located in a great spot in the city. The industrial warehouse vibe is mixed perfectly with a bit of modern/hip flair. The staff here is excellent. Everyone from the doormen, bartenders and lobby personnel was kind and courteous. We didn't get a chance to try to restaurant, but the drinks were reasonably priced for a hotel bar. We also saw one of our favorite "Chopped" judges at the hotel bar, which was a cool little surprise. My only complaints are a few things with our room itself. It was pretty noisy. We could hear neighboring guests, as well as cleaning staff regularly. The floor also was very creaky. Not the end of the world, and I guess to be somewhat expected in a hotel built in a warehouse. But my main issue was our bathroom. It seemed to be built for a handicapped person, which is fine, but it was impossible to use the shower without getting water everywhere. This meant that you couldn't go into the bathroom with socks on, and I basically had to take my pants off every time I went into the bathroom or else they would get wet from the floor. I know this happened because the shower was made to be wheelchair accessible, but it was a hassle for us. Also, counter space in the bathroom was pretty much non-existent. Again, this may have just been the particular room we received, but it was still an issue either way.
