Very good location with a few downsides.

Posted Feb 23, 2018
The location of the hotel is perfect, a 15 minute walk to the castle, gallery and museums and very close to restaurants and cafes for breakfast. The only downside would be the room, the beds are comfy and the room is generally very clean. The issue is the draft and noise coming from outside late at night from the old windows. If you're a bit of a light sleeper this might disturb your sleep but other than that, perfect location and good hotel. Maybe a little expensive for the other things available in the area.

Pros: Quiet hotel, away from the tourist area but still close enough to walk everywhere.
Cons: Nothing
Location: Close to National Portrait Gallery, National Gallery, St. Andrews Square, and very good restaurants.

Hogmanay Weekend

Posted Jan 6, 2018
Pros: Staff, Location, Room facilities, Bathroom facilities, Building, Breakfast, Dinner
Location: New Town with Rose Street)pubs) and Princess Street)shopping) closer than 10 Min. Historic Dean Village - 15 Min. Edinburgh Castle & Old Town 20 Mon
We stayed here for four days over the holiday weekend. The most impressive thing about the Royal Scots Club(and that is saying something because the building is magnificent) is the staff. The attentiveness and helpfulness of the stay at all times was amazing, they were always kind, helpful, and engaged. The rooms facilities were wonderful and the bathroom facilities went far beyond our expectations with both a deep soak tub and a rainfall shower. The building itself is incredibly beautiful and historic and would be worth a visit regardless. Finally, the location in New Town was outstanding - walkable to the Princess Street, the Royal Mile, and Old Town - plus the beautiful Dean Village is a short walk away. The breakfast included in the fair is outstanding - with numerous hot and cold options to choose from and elegantly served every morning in the dining room. As Edinburgh was incredibly busy for Hogmanay we ate here for dinner on a few nights and were always incredibly thankful we did. Highly recommended.

Great location and an excellent display of history

Posted Dec 22, 2017
Travelled as a couple for a short stay around Christmas time, we were extremely pleased with the hotel’s location. We found the staff to be helpful and welcoming, our room provided all of the essential comfort required (in particular the coffee machine).

Great for an Edinburgh City Break

Posted Dec 21, 2017
Pros: Genuine atmosphere, so unlike the boring and sterile "chain" hotels.
Cons: Leave every thing alone, its great as it is.
Location: Very close to central Edinburgh, we used the stay to visit the Christmas Market in Princes Gardens.
Midweek evening stay, pleasant staff and lovely room.
