Elegance, convenience, and professionalism

Posted Sep 19, 2017
Pros: Everything.
Cons: Nothing
Location: You name it, it's there.
Beautiful hotel located in the heart of the city, within walking distance to upscale shopping, Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile, great restaurants, terrific pubs. The management and staff of the Waldorf lives up to its illustrious name. They were extraordinarily responsive, courteous, and helpful. Check in/out was a breeze, concierge was helpful, doorman pleasant, porter services without any wait. Breakfast buffet, while expensive, was delicious. The bar has a wonderful collection of single malts. The room was large for Edinburgh, with a fantastic view of the historic church across the street. If you are looking for the best in accommodations for Edinburgh, look no further. And a shout out to Emma, she's wonderful.

Family celebration of dads 50th birthday.

Posted Sep 10, 2017
Pros: Location, swimming pool, excellent family room but main plus for me were the outstanding staff.
Cons: The pool was great but a strong sewery smell at the male changing room door needs sorted. Should have mentioned it, probably would have fixed it.
Location: Centre of Edinburgh, so many things to do. Royal Mile, Castle, Gardens, Museums, Zoo, theatres, endless
Celebrating my 50th birthday with my wife and two daughters - fantastic hotel. Lovely room, great location and outstanding staff. I've had to mark the staff as 4 out of 5 only because my wife was upset at the treat put in the room for me said 'Happy Ammiversary' when she explained a couple of times it was my 50th. Every member of staff we encountered were superb. Mentioned a problem with the lift as we went out for the day - fixed straight away. Concierge, bar manager, all the breakfast staff fantastic.

Beautiful historic hotel.

Posted Sep 9, 2017
The Caledonian is a beautiful hotel in a fantastic location. The staff were all very friendly and professional. Are room though small was beautifully decorated- very relaxing. The marble bathroom well appointed. The breakfast which we had included was great. We loved the lounge area and enjoyed a relaxing drink in this very grand room. We love the old railway hotels and this one did not disappoint. Would have loved to see the rooms looking over the castle!

Great Views and Location

Posted Aug 27, 2017
This was our first stop on our vacation to Scotland. My wife and I really enjoyed our stay here. We easily walked to everything we wanted to see. The view from our room was great. We were able to watch the fireworks over the castle while drinking champagne. We had room service and breakfast during our stay both of which were excellent. The staff were friendly and professional. We enjoyed our stay so much that when we had problems at another hotel we left and gladly drove a couple hours to stay at the Caledonian for our last nights in Scotland.

Honeymoon stay

Posted Aug 25, 2017
Had a wonderful time in a beautiful hotel. Had a few hiccups on our first day where little things were wrong, but after a few hours the faults were rectified and we were spoilt rotten with extras and service. Would definitely go back to the hotel. The rooms are very comfortable and relaxing and the common areas are luxurious and beautifully decorated. The food in the hotel is also top quality and the breakfast has lots to choose from on the buffet. On the whole a very happy experience.

Amazing view of Edinburgh Castle

Posted Aug 23, 2017
Pros: Everything!
Cons: Our stay was perfect!
Location: The hotel is located near the castle, in the old city, near bus and rail stations, and lots of great places to eat. No better location!
It's hard to find hotels in Europe and the UK that have rooms large enough to accommodate a family of 4. Not only was our room spacious and well-appointed, but it had the most amazing view of the castle. The location couldn't be better, it's beautiful, clean and the food is excellent!

Not a luxury hotel

Posted Aug 22, 2017
Pros: view and location
Cons: reduce the rates or clean the hotel and spa. You have a mold issue
This is in no way a luxury hotel. average room that smelled like mold and mildew and there was mold in the corner of the shower. The men's locker room in the "spa" stunk of mold and mildew and the paint was bubbling and peeling. When asked for a reduction in the rate or credit, I was told that it was not possible, as the reservation was booked through Expedia. I was offered a small credit for food. The view of the castle is NOT worth the price for this hotel. Stay elsewhere, or make sure that you get a rate closer to that of a 3 star hotel. Very disappointing experience...

This is the best hotel I have ever experienced! The staff was beyond my expectations. Every thing we asked for was delivered with a smile and "of course". The breakfast was terrific.

What a place . I still can't believe I got this hotel for the price . Steve the consierge was tremendous and got us tickets for the sold out tattoo ! Alan the bartender fantastic and the restaurant was great. Small problem in that the rollaway didn't fit the room so they upgraded the room no charge . This is a great hotel in one of the greatest cities in the world !!!!

Excellent location at the base of the castle.

Posted Aug 17, 2017
This hotel has an excellent location at the end of Princes street and at the base of Edinburg Castle. It's own facilities are very much like a castle itself and the service is magnificent. Stay here while in Edinburg.
