Affordable, great location

Great location, at converging point of Chinatown, Little Italy, Nolita and Tribeca with multiple subway entries. High ceilings, nice rooms and friendly, helpful staff.

Nice staff, comfy bed, but super noisy

Posted May 30, 2016 on Hotels
Staff were great. But for anyone who needs a quiet room that stays dark until they plan on getting up, this is not the hotel. All rooms face onto an extremely noisy intersection, and the windows do not have blackout curtains on them. Earplugs are supplied, but they don't drown out the sound of big trucks rattling down the road and horns blasting all through the night. Both Canal and Lafayette seem to be a major thoroughfare for trucks. And the light shines in at the crack of dawn. If the hotel sealed the windows better for sound and installed blackout curtains, it would be a big help. It was so loud in our room it felt like the windows were wide open. We had to change hotels because of the problem. And we had to stay two nights because we had to give 24 hours cancellation notice to get a refund for the remainder of our stay. Staff were really apologetic and did their best to help, but they still charged us one night (a Friday) at the top per night rate instead of the Hotels.com discount rate. If we book through a discount service, I feel that every night should be at a discount, not just one night. It turned out to be an expensive mistake.

Pleasant one night stay in New York

Posted May 14, 2016 on Hotels
Just a one night stay here but definitely on my list of places to go back to for a longer trip. Check in/front desk super friendly and helpful. The room was surprisingly large (compared at least to similar priced places I have stayed in New York). Wifi was fast and stable. Only criticism was that the bedding was not so warm - if I had stayed one more night I would have asked for an additional blanket. The hotel is well located for for the subway as well as for exploring the nearby neighborhoods (Chinatown, Little Italy, etc.).

It was small but very cozy and comfortable! Would like to stay again but I wouldn't recommend it if planning to stay longer than a few days since the room is so small.
