Good choice with kids or long stay
Rooms are we equipped and comfortable. Kitchen had basic dishes and cooking equipment. Nice TV & Stereo. Lots of space for NYC. Very convenient location 1 block from the subway and central park. If you have kids, there is a playground 1/2 block away. Rooms could use a fresh coat of paint. They need to enforce that no smoking rule. The 3rd floor guests seemed to be ignoring it.

not clean no hot water
We were able to check in 2 hours early, but that was perhaps a mistake. Our unit was 4R, no elevator, and the bathroom had clumps (not a few strays) of hair on the floor and in the shower. I am not a complainer, so I NEVER write bad reviews, but I had to in this case. The folks we met and talked to were very nice and accommodating, but I don't think they finished cleaning the bathroom before letting us in. Linens were clean, room was spacious with a fold out sofa and ottoman, but the sofa sloped downhill with a a bar in the middle. Water was never more than lukewarm. Number to call for off hours service was blacked out on phone. We were only there one night, over a holiday, so we didn't bother. Location is safe and quiet, convenient to the park and restaurants on Columbus Ave. If the bathroom had been clean, I could have managed all the rest. Others in my party were not so forgiving.

Not fancy, but the best deal for the location.
Our family of four stayed at this hotel for a couple of days. Here is what I liked about the hotel stay: -hotel room was spacious like an apartment (separate one bedroom and living room with pull out couch) -the room had a kitchen (fridge, microwave, stovetop) complete with plates, cups & glasses, pots & pans, silverware & cooking utensils, coffee maker and cleaning products. -the hotel was a stones throw away from central park (great for going to the zoo, ice skating, carousel, park theatre etc) -Across the park is 5th Ave-Broadway and Times Square not too far away either -the hotel was two blocks from the Natural Museum of History & Hayden Planetarium) -convenient if traveling around by subway (take the 81/Museum on B or C line) -Television with built in surround sound in ceiling Apart with our general satisfaction with the hotel, there were a few things that I did not like: -The heat/fan was on all the time and could not control -The room did not feel clean and smelled like smoke when we got there -No staff or housekeeping onsite (unless staying for more than 5 days you will get housekeeping)

Great Location
I stayed here with my wife and kids. We enjoyed being close to the park and the UWS neighborhood is vibrant and full of great retail, food, and amenities. I would recommend this option to friends and would definitely look to stay here again.

Loved My NYC Apartment
I was a little concerned after reading the negative reviews, but I really enjoyed staying at the Central Park House. It's true, there's no onsite staff, but I had no trouble being "buzzed" into the building & using the keypad & finding the key. The room was clean, modern, & friendly. We had plenty of towels, although I brought a set of my own after reading all the complaints about "too thin" towels. My daughter used the CPH's towels. The master bedroom was nice. The mattress was pretty thin and we had trouble opening the 2 sleepers - couch & chair - in the living room; but after all the rushing around we did in NYC, we were dead tired & had no trouble "hitting the sack" & sleeping well. The 1st nite I was a little nervous because there was no chain latch on the door, but after an incident free nite, I was fine.

I really liked this affordable townhouse apt. It is in a great convient location. Near affordable shops and museum and a planetarium. There is a great space with full access for dining and cooking. Great place in the wash area.

I had an express check in, nothing to complicated. The room was large, and beautiful. Very clean, the staff via intercom was very helpful. I would be looking forward to another stay!

Great hotel!
Great hotel and great location! It's right next to a metro station and a supermarked! The only thing that needs to improve is the bed in the living room, so if you stay more than two people in 'The Central Park House' bring a air mattress if you want a good night sleep.

Home Away From Home!
I must say I had a very beautiful experience! The check in was EXPRESS, very quick and simple. This location was very convenient, close to the Shops at Columbus Circle, Fifth Avenue and Lincoln Centre. I had no problems, everything was working great. My room was very big, and properly cleaned. This will not be my last time visiting this great property!

Great location near Central Park and Museums
It was nice to feel as if we were 'residents', not hotel guests...the downside - we saw no one during the whole of our 4-day stay, and the only contact with any type of 'help' was through the door intercom...Our stereo system didn't work, which was a shame, and neither did the microwave oven...! We didn't bother reporting this as it seemed too complicated via the intercom...Also, nowhere to leave luggage later than 2pm on check-out - and we had a train at 7pm, so we had to lug around our suitcases all afternoon. The intercom guy did allow us to leave luggage in the room until 2.30 pm when pressed, even though when we came back to remove it, it was obvious no one was coming in after us that day, as no room service had been done at all...They have been could be a bit flexible in that case...Having said that, we were able to put our suitcases in the room on our arrival day before the check-in time of 3 pm (they gave us access to leave the bags at 11 am)...so we can't complain too much! They were also a bit tight with the towels - we had only one small one per person...

Please bring your own...
The only good thing I can say about this hotel is it's location and it's space inside was great. Now for the bad, first of all there was no sighting or contact with anyone who worked there besides pushing a button at the front door and waiting for someone to respond. The intercom had some static too, so they had to repeat themselves. As for the inside of the apartment, I loved the fact that it was like an apartment not a hotel room. Everything looked beautiful overall. When I entered the beautiful bathroom there were wet dirty towels left on the floor next to the bathtub, I assume from the last guest. I inspected the rest of the apt and found hairs on beds and pillows (some looked like it was was from the pubic area, the garbage in the kitchen was never taken out and the rug was not even vacuumed. Apparently, no one cleaned up the bathroom or anywhere else when the last people left. Which by the way I know their names, address, phone # how long they stayed there, what their complaints were and other personal stuff because the form they filled out before they checked out was left on the kitchen table and no one removed it because no one cleaned the room. So I have to walk back down the stairs from the 3rd floor to go talk to the intercom to let them know. I went out for dinner (beautiful neighborhood btw)and when I returned I see that only the bathroom was cleaned and towels removed. Later on that night I went to the closet to get clean towels to take a bath and what do I see...the wet dirty towels from the bathroom floor folded neated and place on the closet shelf. There was only one clean towel, not sure if it was clean at this point, to use for 1 adult and 3 kids. At this point I did not want to stay there any longer especailly being with kids, but had to make the best of it since I had no where else to go that night and we were all very tired. I went out again and bought Clorax wipes, soap, towels, disinfectants and spent more money than I intend too. So there goes the whole save some money theory. I should have just checked into an expensive hotel. Then when it was time to sleep, the sofa bad was broken as stated by previous reviews on this hotel so I took the idea from other guest reviews and just put the matress on the floor and slept and no we did not use their covers or sheets. So my advice, if you do stay here please bring your own towels and blankets. And make sure you have a bottle of disinfectant wipes.

Central Park House
The Apartment/Hotel was perfect. The location was incredible. The room was clean and prepared for my arrival. The walls are paper thin, but I'm a heavy sleeper, so it didn't matter much. The biggest challenge I had was getting into the building. I had to wait close to 2 hours. The intercom system wasn't working, so they couldn't buzz me into the building. If it wasn't for another person staying at the property, I would have never gotten in. Get the emergency phone numbe BEFORE you arrive. When I did receive that number, I got a gentleman who was obviously sleeping and didn't hear the intercom ring. This was the only thing that frustrated me.

loved this hotel except for the mattresses
Everything is fabulous about this hotel except the mattresses are hard as a rock. No problems with parties in the rest of the hotel. Very clean, spacious one bedroom apartment. Brightly decorated, nice finished floors. No front desk, which was fine with us. Walk one block to catch cabs. Great place for an extended stay - verything you need is there, including fridge, dishwasher, micro, dishes, and DVD player. You can easily sleep 5 in the king suite because of the sofa bed and another pullout that is a single. Very safe neighborhood not too far from a police station. We walked about at 2 am and felt very safe. No elevator so we requested a lower floor and it was fine. Handicap access would be a problem. Super value for the money!

A wonderful spot!
We booked this apartment at the last minute... and it was a wonderful spot. Just a block or two from Central Park and very near the Museum of Natural History. It looked just like the pictures too! the shower water runs onto the floor and we had to use our towels to clean that up, but I left a note and they gave us more towels and a rug too. We loved it there! It would have been nice to have a map of the area or some menus in the room, since we were new to this area. Watch the parking out front, we were lucky enough to get a spot right in front, but we got a ticket for being less that 15 feet from the fire hydrant. he yellow line on the curb was worn off. We were able to park on the other side of the street for the rest of our stay. We would definately stay here again!

Incredibly poor service
The pull-out was broken; the sheets for the pull-out had golf-ball-sized holes in them; the key they gave us would not work in the lock the first night and we thought we were going to be locked out. When I notified Woogo of these issues, I was told they would take care of them. Later, when I called to check on the status, they said no one could come to the property until the next day. I spent two nights on the couch, on old sheets. When I repeatedly asked the customer service reps at Woogo to have a manager e-mail me to address the fact that we did not receive what was advertised, they seemed to shrug it off and I still have not heard from them.

this is an apartment, not a hotel i loved it it was clean and had lots of space the employees were receptive and they even extended my stay by several hours when they needed to work out some plumbing issues you must clean up after yourself once you're in the kitchen is fully stocked but if something like papertowels is missing you can always just pick some up and leave it for fellow travelers i loved the kitchen i purchased organic food at a ny coop And takeout as well loved it!

Cool apartment for short-term rent
Ridiculously convenient location, safe and quiet neighborhood, near tons of restaurants, blocks from the subway and Museum of Nat'l history and Central Park. The decor is trendy and tasteful. The sofa bed was too uncomfortable to use, but we put the mattress on the ground and it was fine. We have 2 kids and found that the walls don't block out much sound between the rooms...but at least there was a wall between the rooms (which you don't get in a hotel room). Overall, this apartment was a great value.

Not what I expected.
Well for starters this was not a hotel. It was an apt. We did not know this and had difficulty just finding the address. There was just a trickle of water coming from the shower (and ultimately no water after one person tried to shower) and for four people after a day of traveling this was very stressful. They only provided 3 towels when they knew that four people were booked. We found that the second "bed" was actually a pull out couch from the ?1970's that we couldn't fully pull out and had to sleep on a slant. The sheets were full of holes and the one and only blanket was old and dirty looking. We immediately called for service and of the three numbers we had no one answered, only voice mail and no one ever returned our calls. We left first thing in the morning to a nearby "hotel" and had a wonderful time in NY. Only regret was wasting our time with the Central Park House.

Great idea, flawed execution
An 8 unit apartment building 1/2 block from Central Park. High speed internet and a kitchen in one of my favorite neighborhoods. The bad news: we saw it after it was prepped for the next guests and found out what we missed. We didn't get all of our linens, kitchen cleaning supplies, or the bathroom fully prepped. No shower door but this arty class partial wall. Result? The water leaks onto the floor. AND the toilet runs. All said and done, we're looking forward to returning, perhaps as soon as within 2 months.

Nice place
We needed a room with a small kitchen. It was stocked with plates, utensils... the microwave didn't work. Otherwise it was a nice stay, great location and wonderful local restaurants. The only bad event was a loud and vicious fight the couple had in the room above us. After an hour of items thrown and screams, it cooled down but then they stayed up all night. We complained the next day to the attendant one gets when you push the button at the outside entrance and they were very responsive. The next night was very quite.

I was a bit sceptical based on the reviews, but decided to give it a shot with my 5 year old son based on location (right next to Central Park and the Museum of Natural History) and price. Great location and fair price, especially for the size of the room. And there were no parties there like some of the other reviews stated, at least not when we were there. However, you buzz to check in and they give you a code to your room (all doors have a key pad) and they buzz you in the front door outside. Nobody every mentioned that there should be a key in the room to the outside door until my second night when we again buzzed to get in and the guy asked where our key was. No note in the room, nothing to indicate this and nobody every brought one to us as they were supposed to do. So we (me and my 5 year old son) spent each night, Fri and Sat, sitting on the sidewalk for about 10 minutes waiting for the on-call rep to answer the phone and then buzz us in at 10:30 at night. A bit frustrating.

I was very happy with my stay at Central Park House! It was clean and comfortable. You only get one key so make sure to ask for two if you have a large party. The only thing I would improve was the shower, though it was beautiful it wasn't that functional as water got everywhere since the door doesn't go all the way to the end.

Great neighborhood location next to Central Park that is large, clean, and a huge bargain considering the alternatives. Will definitely return--wish I had known about it throughout the past 11 years of expensive, noisy stays in the city! A definite bargain.

NYC apartment for NYC hotel price!!
Absolutely reccommended! Very spacious, amazing location! Searched for hotels in NYC and when I actually found one with two beds and a PRIVATE bathroom, the price was more then what I paid for Central Park House! More room then a hotel and even a real NYC apartment. Maybe not for a family experience due to some parties, but great for a group getaway. If you are looking for room service and front desk, not for you. It is more like actually living in the city and having the key to your apartment. Definitely will be back for another stay very soon!

We loved Central Park House and we'll be coming back -with friends!! You simply can't get more for you money. You have to be able to be on your own and not need to have a desk or staff around though.. It's like renting a condo at less than a hotel price. Awesome! The furniture was nice, the counters wre granite, there were glasses/plates/silverware in the cabinets. Fridge, stove, microwave, dishwasher, tile bathroom with glass shower, pull out leather couch, flat screen TV, Stereo with ceiling mounted speakers. Highly Reccomended.

Central Party House
8 units, two very loud and large parties (one room had at least 30 people in it). As the night progressed the party got louder and rowdier with a large fight/brawl breaking out in the hallway around midnight. Luckily I had my reservation printout which had a phone number to call for check in details (the room itself had no listing of numbers to call for assistance, help, etc.). By the way, no one from building management came to deal with the situation, they dispatched the police. Most importantly, I was assured by the building manager that the offensive guests would be removed from the property -- that did not happen. Needless to say, once the police left the parties roared back up to their previous levels and continued until the wee hours of the morning. It wasn't just the noise...we did not feel safe at all. No doubt that young people rent these rooms for parties but I guess it makes sense given the price point. Too bad as the location and room set up is perfect for families visiting NYC. Like the other reviewer posted, the word is out...this place is for parties, not people hoping for a good, safe night's rest.

Loud party
The one night we stayed at the Central Park House the people in the apartment below us had an all night party. There is no one on the premises to help with such a problem, so we were never helped and had a sleepless night. The management needs to be ON THE PREMISES and take care of their property. Even though it's in a great neighborhood, I would never stay there again. I think the word is out - if you want to party all night, stay at the Central Park House.

Great location - not for everyone
there is no lobby - no daily service - no one to call - and no elevator which matters if you are on the 4th floor. But - if you are looking for a comfortable very affordable hotel that has a great location this is a great deal. It is a converted apartment bldg right next to central park. It's a block from the subway and you can get a taxi steps away. I would stay here again based on the location and price.

Great Location for Price
Mostly enjoyed the location, walks through Central Park, right next to Natural History Museum and near subway stop to Downtown. Furniture is all new, but a little cheap. Bed in bedroom comfortable, but the fold out couch was rickety, and didn't work well. No hotel service, so need to bring everything for kitchenette, but was nice to have breakfast in our pajamas.

Not small at all
I stayed here for a quick one night, and after reading the reviews I thought I was going to walk into a box of a room. Not the case at all. Nice queen size bad, and a little couch, chair, and a desk, with long open space. Granted it is not a luxury hotel, but is great for short stays, and is a great location, such as Quincy Market, and Fennial Hall, etc. Five minute car ride to Prudential Shopping Center. Check-in/out process is fully automated...just swipe your CC and you have a room key in seconds. Hotel is clean, and when we did ask for assistance, everyone was more than helpful. A good choice for a quick stay.

Good thing there was a chain on the door!
I thought that this is would be a great location to enjoy the Pre parade and parade activities this Thanksgiving but when the off site check in folks gave 2 parties the same room and weren't open to sort it out when the 2d party tried to enter the room at midnight IT WAS A MESS!. I wish there was some coffee to go with the coffee maker and the running toilet that was reported was never fixed. It ran every 37 seconds and I know that because I was scared to death after they left and lay in bed listening to it. The silver lining was that the 2d party was so nice! Woo Goo front desk folks were pretty clueless and made little effort to fix anything.

Central park house à Nexw York A EVITER POUR L'INSTANT
