Excellent location

Posted Jun 13, 2017
Loved the room - ask for a city view room. It was very comfortable, clean and quiet, but disliked the $10 per day "resort" fee. Front desk could be friendlier. I rarely got a smile from them or aknowledgement when waiting at the front desk.

Great location with a kitchen

Posted Jun 5, 2017
Pros: Location and kitchen in the room
Cons: A bit dated inside, could do with sprucing it up a bit.
Location: Very close to the Empire State.
From check in to check out, staff were very friendly. Best thing about this was as this was a +VIP hotel, got a couple of really nice add ons. Best thing about the hotel was the fact that you had a kitchen with all the basic cutlery you would need along with a fridge and hob. Put this together with the fact that you are in a really good location, with accessibility to whatever you need within a 5 min walk. Mind you, it's not brand new so don't expect it to look like a new, contemporary hotel. It was nevertheless clean and space was more than enough for a family of four (11 and 7 yr old).

Good Location

Posted Jun 5, 2017
This hotel is in need of renovation. The public areas in particular are dated and grimy. The hallway outside my room smelled strongly of smoke which was a poor first impression. Room itself was fine but really outdated. Bathroom really needed work; poorly lit, grout dirty, hair on floor (not my own). Doorman great, but front desk took their time to check me in, more involved in their own agenda than that of the guest.

Run down but adequate

Posted Jun 3, 2017
Bizarre "resort fee" is really an excuse for a bit of extra cash. I would prefer the price was up front, but this seems to be the new thing in the states. Maybe this is ok for a proper resort hotel in Vegas, but is a bit ridiculous here. The hotel is ok in its self, fairly run down but is generally well run.

Great room (we received an upgrade). Location is a little eccentric, you have to like Murray Hill.

Great location!

Posted May 31, 2017
Pros: Location was great!
Cons: Take out their hotel fee of $25 each day; this adds up and whatever savings you did thru Expedia cancels out!!
Dumont NYC hotel was a good experience; however, the hotel fee of $25 a day was a surprise which actually you end up paying for the goodies they say they are giving you as amenities ($10 credit each day). I would have preferred not to receive this amenity and do away with this $25 fee!! Also, it will be accommodating for Dumont to have an airport shuttle as their other Affinia hotel!!
