Our favorite hotel in NYC!

Posted May 17, 2017
Pros: Location, room value, staff, on site restaurant (Calle Ocho)
Cons: Would like you to add breakfast buffet on Mon-Tues.
Location: Great restaurants, on subway line, Central Park, American Natural History Museum, MET, very convenient
Wonderful location. Everything enjoyable and perfect for our stay. Suite was large and comfortable. Calle Ocho brunch on Sunday excellent! Will stay here again on our next trip! Highly recommended!

Great location, if you need to be uptown.

Posted May 16, 2017
Pros: Location, location, location. Easy access to subway and taxis, walking distance to restaurants. Muy bueno!
Cons: The rooms need an update, bathroom fixtures, A/C and bedding.
Location: Located on 81st street between Central Park West and Columbus, across the stress from the Museum of Natural History and couple of blocks from subway
Needed to stay in the uptown area for a few days. Not too many options. Excelsior has great location, easy access to subway and taxis, walking distance to restaurants. Muy bueno! Hotel is dated, bathrooms really need update, the toilet bowls are still the little round ones and the shower curtains, mmm. The linens were definitely clean, but mattress was supper stiff and pillows super hard. The A/C was noisy and never cooled down, weather was great so it wasnt a big issue, dont know in the summer. Would I stay there again? Maybe for a overnite trip.

A True Gem near Central Park

Posted May 15, 2017
Pros: The staff is wonderful, the room was spacious and clean
Cons: The breakfast buffet while convenient could have been better.
Location: On Central Park was great for a walk. Also Walking Distance from the Metropolitan Art & Natural History Museums, made our trip awesome.
We were greeted warmly at the curb and it got better from there. The staff went out of their way to ensure we were able to do all of the things we came to NY to do. From the front desk to the bell person to the concierge, everyone was helpful making sure we were able to see everything on our list. My daughter and I targeted several museum exhibits as well as time in Central Park. We were able to purchase super-saver tickets with the concierge that gave us access to all the exhibits we wanted to see. The restaurant suggestions from everyone on staff allowed us to enjoy the same food as the locals. Everything was right on point..

upper west side. Across from park, close to subwy

Posted May 10, 2017
Pros: Its location and spacious rooms!
Cons: Front desk. Employees need to be courteous, friendly and professional
Location: The museum of natural history is across the street, laundromat around the corner, Zabar's up the street, subway at the corner, Central Park nearby.
Excellent except for front desk. They need customer service training. Their needs come before guests! Will stay again!, though, but it was irritating waiting for them to finish their personal business before helping you. Loved my room with tiny living room, wish they had microwave! Then it would be perfect. The neighborhood is much better than staying near Times Square. It's quiet across from a park, just lovely.

Nice location steps away from the park

The room had no natural light. I requested a room with more light but got denied. Furnitures are quite old.

Great location 1/2 block to subway & Central Park.

Posted May 4, 2017
Pros: Large room with sitting area. Quiet off street room with city views.
Cons: Shower.
Nice hotel at a great price. We loved the quite Upper Westside location across the street from the American Museum of Natural History. Walk to numerous local restaurants and bars while being a 5 to 10 minute subway ride to everything NYC has to offer. And walk Cetral Park (half block). We had a large room on the 14th flor with city views. The only negative was the shower head which could use replacement (low water pressure).

Convenient to the Alden where our daughter lives. When we asked the doorman where we might park, he gave us his spot across the street. Amazing!

nice hotel close to museums

Posted Apr 30, 2017
Cons: There was no coffee service in the room, and everything is extra if you want internet in the room, a refrigerator, and no microwave. a big deal for me
Hotel was as described, room small but very nice. Hotel is close two 3 museums and subway, and central park
