UnexpectedPosted Aug 31, 2015
Pros: Somewhat centralized in manhattan. Was able to get up and down the island easily
Cons: Make it stand out more. Taxi drivers were unable to locate it easily
Location: You're basically at central park. 1 mile from Museum Mile. Children Museum across the street. oh and did I mention Central Park.
I had very little expectations from this hotel, however they totally shocked me and blew me out of the water. I'm staying here whenever I visit the big apple.

Great ExperiencePosted Aug 30, 2015
The hotel was nice and clean from the front desk to the lobby to the room I was in. The room was a bit smaller than I'm use to but it was in excellent condition. Aside from the external renovations, which didn't allow the full appreciation for the beautiful outside structure, there were no negatives. Even the renovations were well planned out and didn't disturb me at all. Great stay!

Very nice hotel close to everything you needPosted Aug 28, 2015
We had 12th floor room with great views of the city. The beds were the most comfortable I've ever encountered, I can't remember the last time I slept so good! Facilities were good, room was clean and staff were welcoming and friendly. Close to Subway station for easy access to the whole city.

Nice neighborhood hotelPosted Aug 28, 2015
We were here for 3 nights for Broadway shows and sightseeing. The hotel was extremely comfortable and very roomy with a separate sitting room. Staff was great and subway stop was only a block away. Will definitely return!

Hôtel très bien situé, mais...Posted Aug 28, 2015
Pros: - la situation +++

NIce hotel, very close to Central ParkPosted Aug 27, 2015
Pros: Location & peace
Easy to get to downtown from a very nearby subway station. A very safe neighbourhood with lots of bars & cafes & good laces to eat - one attached to he hotel was particularly good.

Great hotel with a great locationPosted Aug 25, 2015
Pros: Great Location, clean rooms & comfy beds.
Cons: A coffee making facility and fridge in the room as standard.
Location: Central park & natural history museum on your doorstep. Best thing to do is just explore the area on foot or get on subway 1 minute away to downtown
We spent 6 nights at the Excelsior. The main downside is not having a coffee machine in the room and a refrigerator as standard, but we borrowed a kettle which was great for our first morning coffee. Our room was on the 16th floor and a great view of the mid / upper city area, even with the scaffolding. At night the area is much quieter than being in central Manhattan, the beds were comfortable so all in all we had a decent nights sleep. 81st Subway is literally a minutes walk away and the area around is a great place to explore with plenty of coffee shops & restaurants. Central room temperature control would have been better than an air conditioning unit which was quite noisy, but it cooled the room quickly. All in all we had a really comfortable stay at the hotel and would be more than happy to stay again.

Dreary, tiny, sad booking (payed $$$ to upgrade)Posted Aug 24, 2015
Pros: PERFECT LOCATION, helpful housekeepers, desk & bellman. A nice Cuban restaurant in the lobby. Easy to get to subway (or get a cab here, day or night).
Cons: Consistent room quality.
Location: Great location! The Museum of Natural History, Central Park, subway, shopping, restaurants, Sunday morning market, it's all right there.
Sad, tiny, dingy room, with loud screaming children in the hallway, sounding like they were in our room...not the best way to start our 30th anniversary celebration :-( we inquired at the desk about moving. For a steep nightly fee, we were moved to an ok larger room, with a bigger bed & lots of natural sunlight (in a nice, quiet corner location). This second room was not updated & was nowhere near the quality of other rooms we have stayed in, at this hotel (on previous trips). So, still a bit disappointing, but far better than the Expedia room. In the future, if we choose to return to this hotel, we will likely book directly with them to make sure we are not disappointed again. This hotel really should work to establish a consistent quality throughout this property.

Great Room - unless you want coffee or room servicPosted Aug 24, 2015
The room itself was outstanding and the location perfect. However, this Deluxe Suite did not have a coffee maker and the hotel does not offer room service. You have to go to the dining room to get your morning coffee - and since they do not offer "Coffee to go", you have to be ready to sit down and drink it. Kind of surprising from a high priced hotel.
