Our stay at GPH fell far short of our expectations, especially in terms of customer service.
The front desk was less than friendly when we checked in. The room type that we booked was given away to other guests. While they did upgrade us, the upgraded room wasn't the type we were looking for. The front desk agent acted incredulous and even went as far as to openly blame us for not being more specific about what we wanted when we booked the room. It's pretty simple, really - we wanted the room type that we booked. Nothing more, nothing less.
The next night was going to be a romantic evening in our room. I had purchased a bottle of champagne and had requested that morning that it be put on ice at a certain time. The front desk assured me that it would be taken care of. When we returned to our room that evening, our champagne was not on ice as it was supposed to be. I called down to the front desk to put in the request again. Two and a half hours later, a bucket of ice arrived with champagne flutes. By then, the mood I was trying to set had long passed.
I know, first-world problems, right? My room was upgraded and I had to wait for chilled champagne. Boohoo. Well, for a supposedly "5-Star hotel" and the high sum of money I paid, yes, I have higher expectations. Instead, all we got was lousy service and broken promises from start to finish.
All that, without even getting to the part about the rusty shower water, loose baseboards, and water-stained curtains...
