Needs a good update and could be cleaner. The room smelled damp, I didn't enjoy the room. The TV only had 1 channel. It was very cold. There is no restaurant, we had to eat from Sarabeth and McDonald's. I think this hotel was just made carelessly. I do not ever recommend this. The bananas were also rotten.

We are sorry to hear your stay was disappointing. We wish we had known while you were here so we could have made you more comfortable. Yes, we currently do not have a restaurant on the property but there are many amazing eateries within a block or two from us.

This is my favorite hotel to stay at when visiting NYC. Beautiful area, rooms are a good size, and they offer valet parking and a late checkout.

A modern and comfortable option in a busy part of Manhattan. Room was modest sized, but very adequate with comfortable seating and usable workstation area. Checkout time as late as 1pm was a nice plus. The only quibble is the rather uninspiring "continental breakfast" served in the lobby, but there is a good breakfast restaurant a half block away if something more substantial is desired.

I travel plenty and have been to fancy and large 4 star hotels and I have to say that the service here impresses me more in comparison. They are one of few hotels who seem to be properly staffed and trained. Each person from housecleaning to front desk to breakfast bar is super attentive to their guests. This level of service stands out to me most. Besides that, cleanliness, the room balcony, breakfast and 24/7 snack bar, rooftop, and convenient and safe location are noteworthy. I’d recommend staying here.

My friend and I stayed at this hotel for 18 days in January. The hotel thoughtfully asked if we needed transfers to and from the airport and without us asking allocated us to rooms next door to each other. I found the room I had was perfectly sized and comfortable for my long stay. My friend had a room with a living room which was useful when we stayed in one night. Overall I had a fantastic stay and would stay again and recommend friends and family to stay here as well. Things you should be aware of. Kettles are not available in your room so if you want a kettle for a cup of tea after a long hard day of shopping and lunching, you can ask for one from reception and the lovely ladies in housekeeping will bring one to you. What I thought was a mini fridge didn’t work and when I asked reception about it, they said it was for storage but they could bring a mini fridge up to me. I didn’t bother and stored things in my friend’s mini fridge which worked. Also if you are staying for a long time, the hotel charges your card (ie not a hold but actual charge) after you reach a certain limit which surprised us as we were not told about this at check in and only realised while we were out. This is not an issue but some notice would have been good.

Have always loved The Giraffe. We've been staying there for close to 10 years. However, without the evening cocktails in the lobby, the extra expense of The Giraffe is becoming harder to justify.

Our amazing Christmas vacation
This was definitely worth the money 😍 my family and I were treated so well and so polite and respectful I really appreciate the services and hospitality. The rooms are definitely more inviting than many other places we’ve been too. This might be our usual place to stay in the future as many other hotels always have issues

Wonderful
Great stay. Quiet. Mature, respectful guests. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Away from the hustle and bustle. Not for those with active young families or those wanting to be in the middle of all the action at your doorstep. Would return many times over

We keep returning to the Hotel Giraffe because the establishment, the Staff, and the location are all excellent. We DO miss the evening wine/champagne and cheese soiree, and hope that management will consider re-instituting that!

Autumn stay in NYC
Overall an enjoyable stay at the Giraffe Hotel. Location was good, easy to get around NYC with many sites walkable and easy access to the subway as well. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, can't fault them in anyway. As an added bonus hotel checkout is 1pm which is better than any other hotel I have stayed out

Access to cappuccino, espresso, pastries, bagels, etc. in Lobby for guests. I was told these are the benefits of the "Resort" charge. The "Queen" room had a double bed rather than a queen-sized bed. Small BR, small bath. No gym in hotel. Staff were friendly and gracious. Very nice rooftop sitting area with statue of a giraffe.

Our nightly resort fee includes breakfast each morning, all day refreshments such as coffee, tea, cappuccino and snacks, digital access to The New York Times and more. Our Queen rooms do in fact have queen-sized beds! We are glad you enjoyed the staff and rooftop garden.

We had a one bedroom suite at the hotel and it was a very large room nicely appointed. The hotel has a small lobby with some snacks put out daily. There are not a lot amenities at this hotel but the staff was very helpful and welcoming. The room was cleaned daily with very nice toiletries. There is a subway stop 2 blocks from the hotel. Our only "concern" was the soundproofing in our room. We did hear a lot street noise - sirens - etc... in our room. We were on the 6th floor.

Rooms are fine but dated. Suite layout was odd, with desk in the sleeping room vs the living room. At check-in we were told, unapologetically, that the property was out of non-feather pillows. We have allergies so had to arrange delivery by Instacart. Front desk person made it clear it was our problem not the hotel’s. We arrived within one hour of official check-in btw.
