Affordable, clean, and great location

Very positive experience at this hotel. Will stay again, it's located in the perfect location and the rooms were as described. Perfect for single traveler for a short trip. The pillows are super soft so if you've got neck concerns bring something to support yourself.

Batman cave room, all the darkness you don't want

Posted Jan 26, 2016
Pros: Nothing!
Cons: Everything. The reservation personnel over the phone, the lightning in the rooms, the "amenities", the super noise heating system...
Location: Close to Times Square, Broadway shows and restaurants.
If you are looking for a room with absolutely no natural light what so ever make sure to ask for a room in the third floor of this hotel. The window was way above the bed line covered by a small curtain. The little window was facing another wall .., think of claustrophobic feeling and you defined the feeling in this room. Needless to say that all you get is a tiny room with a bed and a desk jammed inside the small place. Nothing compared to the pictures, or I should say they take pictures in an angle that looks like there's much more "room" than that bed pictured but that's an illusion. I am sure they have bigger and better rooms, but I was the lucky one to have that dump dumped on me. BTW. I asked the woman at the front desk whether the room had natural light, she confirmed. I got the keys, then when I already got cc and ID back and was about to make my way to the elevator she "double checked" and said that the room I got (302 I think) did not have much natural light because was to the interior to the building and if I go upstairs to check I would not be able to exchange the room and (of course) there were no other rooms available at that time and if I wanted anything else I'd have to wait. So I took it not knowing what I was getting myself into. I canceled the next day reservation and went to a more decent hotel.

Very nice hotel in the middle of Time Square!

Posted Jan 26, 2016
Pros: Everything.
Cons: Nothing.
Location: It's right in the middle of Time Square. What more can you ask? :)
My daughter and I loved everything about this hotel. Location was great. The staffs were very nice and the room was very clean. It was a bit small but we didn't care much. We also loved the breakfast at the restaurant.

Uns wurde das Hotel Mela aufgrund seiner Lage empfohlen und wir wurden nicht enttäuscht. Man ist umgeben von tollen Restaurants und Broadway Musicals bis zum Times Square sind es nur wenige Schritte.

Nice boutique hotel, great location!

Posted Jan 17, 2016
Pros: Location, shower, friendly staff, comfortable bed
Cons: It could use an upgrade in the hallways. Some fresh paint. A little sprucing up.
Location: Great street, good restaurants nearby, super close to Broadway theaters.
I go to NY on business at least 6 or 8 times a year. I've stayed in many place and as far as midtown goes, 44th St is my favorite. And every time I go to NY, I eat at Saju Bistro which is just below this hotel. It's a fantastic little unpretentious French bistro with great food. The hotel was great, especially for the price. Very friendly staff at check in, very accommodating and prompt when I needed the temperature in my room to be addressed. The room is small but doesn't feel cramped. Good furniture, cozy bed and - my favorite feature - a step in shower (I hate tub showers and shower curtains!). Perfectly located for walks to the theater or 30 Rock or Central Park. Plenty of great restaurants around. I got a super great rate (because of the off season). If I were paying more I might feel differently. But sometimes, depending on the season, you have no choice. Either way - it's a nice hotel. I would go back.
