Friendly staff- great location

We booked 2 nights at Hotel Mela as part of a package to NYC.We took an early flight up and contacted the hotel to check if they could hold our bags until the 3pm check in. They were very accommodating. Having just traveled into the city, we wanted to use a restroom to freshen up prior to heading back out. Unfortunately, the only 'public' restroom is on the 2nd floor, attached to the workout facilities. The elevators are quite small and slow and there were loads of people checking out, so we took the stairs. Once we got to the 2nd floor, we discovered someone was already in the bathroom (1 person bathroom). Not sure what they were up to, but after 5 minutes, we bailed.....
Other than the elevator and restroom situation, the hotel is great. It is located close enough to Time Square that you can enjoy all the sites, but far enough away that it isn't disturbingly loud at night. We did not eat at the Bistro, but the food looked and smelled great. Did not use the workout area (who needs to work out when you are walking all day!), but it was what would be expected for a small boutique hotel.
The rooms were small, but comfortable-although a little dark. The bathroom was well appointed with some decent storage under the sink. Bed was comfy. The hotel was spotless from the rooms to the lobby!

Thank you for your recent stay at Hotel Mela, we're thrilled that you chose to stay with us over the many, many hotels in the Times Square neighborhood. In addition, thank you for taking the time to share your very positive experience with us and the online community.
We certainly do wish as well that we had available and additional restroom facilities on the lobby. Due to the small and intimate nature of the Hotel Mela lobby, this is essentially impossible to accomplish.
We do look forward to welcoming you back to Hotel Mela in the near future and thank you in advance for recommending us to your friends, family and colleagues. Thanks again and all the best!
