Missing clothes and the smell of marijuana

Posted Jul 19, 2017
Pros: Its location and conceirge.
Cons: Fulfill its commitment that is to keep its guests' belongs safe.
Location: You might want to find another hotel nearby to stay in.
I was pleased with the location in which is very close Times Square. Hotel room was relatively clean and neat. My first impression with the hotel was that it was fine. However, it went downhill from the second day of our stay. When my husband and I went back to the room, I couldn't find my exercise shirt, a white Under Armor T shirt I wore that morning. It was missing. My husband reported this to the hotel manager, and he told us he would check with the laundry cleaning company to see if the shirt was among the bedding/towels and the housekeeper accidentally took it. I gave him the benefit of doubt since it was a white shirt. The next day, I found my pajamas were missing, and the while packing to check out I realized my hoodie was gone. The hotel admitted the housekeeper and us were only people who accessed the room, but the manager said he could do nothing about the loss of my hoodies. The hotel only offered to compensate with 4 nights resort fee, which was about $100. BTW, the resort fee is a joke because this is no resort. On top of this, we had to suffer from the strong smell of marijuana from the hallway every night that kept us awake. The housekeep didn't understand English well. When we asked an extra blanket, she left four sheets of bedding on the bed.

Perfect Location

Posted Jul 18, 2017
Had a wonderful experience here!!! Hotel Mela is the perfect price and location for an NYC visit. We loved being right in Times Square and close to all the midtown attractions. The room was clean and quiet and overall very comfortable. There was a "service fee" of $30 collected at check-in, for the gym and wireless..I could have done without that, but it was still a good value. Parking and check in/out was a breeze. I would definitely reccomend this hotel to anyone visiting the city.

Pretty good hotel

Posted Jul 17, 2017
Pros: The location was very close to Times Square.
Cons: The cleanliness of the room especially the side tables and the walls.
Location: Times square is within walking distance and there's a lot of good food and attractions near by.
The room overall was good but could be better. The side table was very dirty between the glass and the wood. There is also no door or cover for the shower so the whole washroom gets wet. Furthermore, the remote for the tv was extremely dirty as well. There was an unexpected charge for each night that was supposed to be covered by the booking site.

Beautiful hotel near to Times Square

Posted Jul 16, 2017
The hotel, even though being so close to the action manages to be calm and peaceful. The hotel is kept clean by the hardworking custodians which really allowed it to be more comfortable. The staff were all friendly and allowed for things to run smoothly if you were having trouble. It is a wonderful hotel, would go there again.

The hotel check in was smooth, for the most part. The staff accidentally gave another guest a card to our room but then gave back the resort fee to my debit card for the mishap.

Good location, central to Times Square

Posted Jul 15, 2017
Staff was unhelpful and rude to other customers. Front desk didn't answer phone when attempting to get ice on multiple occasions. The beds were hard and springy, and the shower had no door. Otherwise the location was great and close to many attractions and restaurants.

Small rooms, scary elevators

Posted Jul 14, 2017
Pros: Central location
Cons: Elevators were scary, rooms were small - that can't be changed without major costly renovation though.
Location: Just off Times Square. Walking distance to Broadway and Central Park.
We arrived too early for check-in, but the bell hop was super cool. He loaned us a key card and told us where to find the bathroom. Then he recommended checking in and storing our luggage until our room was ready. I watched him and one other corral and organize around 50 people and their luggage. Truly impressive. The hotel is within walking distance of Times Square. Walk a little further and you'll get to Broadway. A little past that and you'll get to Central Park. The elevators are quite small and the entry into them is small as well. At one point the elevators were stuck and not responding to folks pushing buttons to call them on the ground floor. Both of those things combined with my phobia of elevators made for many nervous rides. The rooms are very small. Literally only a full-sized (double) bed, a wardrobe and the bathroom. Two people can't be in the room comfortably at the same time, except to sleep, and even then it's a challenge. If you're literally only planning to be in your room to sleep, and you don't bring anything more than a backpack with you, you'll be fine. It was clean, though - no evidence of bedbugs. The fitness center looked clean and well maintained. I appreciated the free boarding pass printing as well.

Extra facility cost $30 a night

Posted Jul 11, 2017
Pros: Located close to Times Square
Cons: The pillows and the bed.
Location: Times Square, 42nd Street.
When we checked it, we were surprised to learn that this hotel charges an extra $30 facility fee a night, which was not included in the original price quoted by the hotel on Expedia on its website.

Close to Time Square

Posted Jul 10, 2017
The hotel staff greeted up well. I was shocked by the maditory $30.00 service fee per night. This was for internet and using the fitness room (which we never did). The room was small but clean. The bed needed a mattress cover and fitted sheet. Most mornings I woke up on the bare mattress.
