Horrible

Posted Jun 19, 2017
Pros: Location
Cons: Replacing the mattress, CLEANING, having working equipment in the rooms.
Location: Good location next to Penn Station.
For the cost of the hotel, I was shocked at how nasty the room was! The bathroom had mold in the shower, bugs on the ceiling, the TV didn't work, the mattress was at least 20 years old, and the windows were so dirty you couldn't see out.

Right across from Penn Station

Posted Jun 19, 2017
Cons: Fix the tub.
Location: Easy walking distance to Time Square and easy access to subway as well as trains.
The only reason I chose this hotel was because it's right across from Penn Station. Other than that the room was musty, outdated, poor mattress and pillows, the tub was in terrible condition. I had a very poor view. Very disappointing considering the price I paid to stay there.

Worst hotel I have stayed in my entire life

Posted Jun 10, 2017
Old and dirty room. Not worth paying 120usd per night. The only advantage this hotel have is the location. Located right beside MSG. But overall it is a bad stay.

Never again

Posted Jun 7, 2017
Pros: Location
Cons: Everything, complete remodel
Location: Madison Square Garden, Penn Station
Noisy room, you could clearly hear neighbors talking. Smoky, neighbors smoking, you could smell it. 50% of the electrical plugs didn't work. Could not get a do not disturb sign, so maid keep entering unannounced. The hotel smelled. Walls were dirty and marked, carpet was stained, hallways were filthy, and poorly lit. Great location.

Not suitable for toddlers!

Posted Jun 6, 2017
Arrived at 8pm with a promise of a Crib in our for our toddler. The Crib finally arrived at 3:30am after visiting reception at 3am. We also asked to be moved from a cold, smoking room with a window that wouldn't close to a non-smoking room with a safer bath tube the next day. Staff did all they could, but facilities are non existent in this old and massive hotel of over 1700 rooms. We had to buy a kettle to heat water to warm our child's milk, we can't use it in the UK. I suppose it'd be fine for an overnight crash pad, but not recommended for a lengthy stay. We stayed for 7 nights and were glad to check out.

The most honest review of the Penn

Posted Jun 6, 2017
Alright so here it is: perhaps the most honest review of the Hotel Pennsylvania you'll find: I booked this hotel because of the location. The location is without a doubt, the only good thing about this hotel. You can get to anywhere in NY or NJ easily. However, the hotel itself is mediocre at best. There's no refunds for cancelling your stay (believe me I tried and they are SO stingy about this.) They wouldn't let me upgrade to a nicer room either. Not really sure why. Even the fantastic Expedia customer service people couldn't make it happen for me. The hotel staff here are cold and short tempered. The luggage room costs $5 per bag and it's down in the basement. More like a dungeon. The hallway to our room looked like a scene from The Shining, except not as nice. The room smelled like cigarettes even though we requested a non smoking room. The air conditioner was loud and squeaky but worked well. The bed was really firm but the sheets were clean, no bugs whatsoever. They gave me an iron but no ironing board. I requested they send one up twice and never got it. The bathroom was okay; old and very basic. But the water was hot and the water pressure was fine. If the hotel were anywhere else we would've been very disappointed. But it's New York. The whole point is to be out and about and live it up! Which is exactly what we did. We had a bed to sleep in, hot water, and a roof over our head. Stay here if your budget is super tight. Otherwise spend extra and stay elsewhere

Good for a night but that's it

Posted Jun 5, 2017
Great location and affordable for a night or 2. Room was kind of gross and weird. Very old looking and dirty. Location was awesome though and this worked out well for a weekend trip.

Great location

Posted Jun 5, 2017
Great location outside of Madison Square Garden. Room was basic but fine. The base of the bed was smaller than the mattress which meant you needed to be careful getting in and out of it. Room was clean and in a quiet part of the hotel which was great and meant sleep was not disturbed.
