Beware of bugs and black mold!Posted Oct 7, 2015
Cons: clean it!
The pictures of the room when we booked were nothing like the room we were given, It was not the typle of room we requested. It was very old dark and in very poor condition. Black mold on the bathroom walls and celing, plaster falling off the walls. Broken heating unit. celing was cracked around the light fixture and looked like it had a leak that had not been repaired. Floors were dirty. Worst thing was I woke in the middle of the night because something was biting my face by my eye. I swiped it off and it was bed bugs. I took a picture of it and saved it to give to the staff. No one was available that early in the morning (5:00 am). I was so disapointed. It was my 23rd wedding anniversary trip and it was the worst part. A clean room would have made the trip to NY great. So disappointed!! Would never want anyone to stay there!!! Yuck!

Terrible Experience at Hotel Penn-- Stay Away!Posted Oct 7, 2015
Cons: Needs to be updated, cleaned, more enthusiastic staff, better staffed for demand, not charge for every little thing
Location: Madison Square Garden and Penn Station
I wish there were a zero star rating. Upon arrival, I waited 1.5 hours to check in. The line was huge and there were only 3 front desk folks working unenthusiastically (some watching tv during interactions) at the front. The elevator was full of litter on the floor and dirty. Upon reaching the 11th floor I entered a dark, dingy corridor (the whole floor smelled like smoke and mildew) with carpet that I think used to be green but is now stained and faded. Gross. I got to my room and found stained carpet, it wreaked of smoke, there was no internal lock on the door, and one of the outlets was broken with exposed wiring. The windows were filthy (to the point where I couldn't see out of them. The bed covers had little holes in them (maybe a moth?). The bathroom wasn't any better. The tub was stained, the drain stopper had mold on it, and the wall was peeling and bubbling from moisture. I absolutely did not feel safe here and will not be staying there again.

It was a really bad experince, the hotel was dirty the staff was rude (front desk) they should of been more informative and curtious. The room was old and in need of repairs.

Pros: The proximity to Penn Station. Nothing else. Next time I will walk another a couple 100 yds to do better.
The room was very ,poor. Rug had creases in it and must have been 30years and badly stained. Window was so filthy that you could not see through it. the paint in the bathroom was chipped and nasty. Will never stay there again.

Har bodd her flere ganger. Men de er i rehabilitering. Og det merkes. Virkelig dårlig standard på rom iår. Byttet 3 ganger. Synd, fordi det er så utrolig sentralt. Men , det kan jo bare bli bedre.

Very well locatedPosted Oct 7, 2015
Pros: the location is the best aspect.
Cons: The cleaniness
The hotel is very well located, in front of Madison Square Garden and Penn Station and 15min walking from Times Square. I appreciate to stay there.

Easy location for moving around cityPosted Oct 7, 2015
Cons: The staff greeting you should be a better representation of the hotel. Rude and hostile doesn't make for a very inviting and comfortable stay.
From the start this stay was disappointing. Upon existing a cab I asked doorman if I could use a luggage cart to get my belongings into the hotel. He questioned whether I had a reservation several times- I had suitcases and was getting out of a cab so I'm unsure why this was such a big surprise. After watching me load my luggage onto the cart he pushed the cart up a ramp and towards the check in desk. Upon stopping the cart he turned and asked me for a tip. Asked. I have never been asked for a tip before and certainly not by someone who so begrudgingly gave me a service. I declined as I had no small bills at the moment and said that after checking in I would come find him out front. He tried insisting on breaking my bills and giving me change to which I again declined. He then walked off and proceeded to turn every five steps to give me a dirty look. Great start. I then waited in a pretty long check in line only to finally get to the front desk where they couldn't find my reservation. Ten minutes of searching and they found it. I was then shown to my room by a much nicer man, Charlie, who helped me with my bags and was great. Hotel is a bit tired, but generally clean.
