Clean, polite staff, breakfast!

Very nice upscale place. Very clean and new. Close to subway, great deal on parking overnight. Staff was very helpful and kind.

The hotel is extremely comfortable and updated. The rooms are small but it's NYC. The view from our room on the 9th floor was amazing - the Brooklyn and Manhatten bridges! Front desk was very nice and pleasant. Lots of awesome Chinese food in the surrounding area and it was very close to the subway and walkable to lots of sights

Good value, friendly staff!

Did some sightseeing in Soho, Little Italy, Chinatown - very convenient. Also convenient to East Broadway subway (F line) which takes you uptown without any transfers needed. Continental breakfast was above average - hot and cold offerings and fresh fruit. King bed was super comfortable! Only disappointment was that the wifi strength didn't carry up to our top floor (11) room. Worked great down at breakfast floor. Might be fine for middle floor, don't know...it didn't work on our top floor.

Small hotel, terrible front desk staff

First off, I checked in and the front desk Asian man was awfully rude. He wasn't welcoming at all, and gave me attitude about having an extra person stay in our room. He could have said it nicer but instead gave us attitude threatening to charge my card if he found out she stayed overnight. I knew there was a charge, just nicely say you have to charge me. Secondly, we had them clean our room and they didn't throw any of our trash on the counters. I had to write a note above the trash bag asking to please toss. Third, the room size is awfully small. Looks can be deceiving and I felt that Expedia and The Howard Johnson site mislead everyone. It doesn't look half that big at all. The bed nearly touches the door when you walk in. And last but not least, we were going into our room and the room beside us were smoking marijuana. it went right through our walls and into our room. We smelt it near our tv which was opposite of their room. We complained, but we have no clue if staff did anything about it. It was an awful experience

Room in the basement

We stayed in room 128 in the basement. That room should not be a guest room. It had no windows and therefore no natural light. It was very loud in the early mornings with staff going about their daily business. The staff were attentive but the hotel had no business having 1 guest room down cellar where they would be disturbed by vacuuming and constantly chatter.

Hotel made great first impression. Great street appeal. Great front desk staff. Breakfast was ok. And we had issues with the plumbing in our room-had to call to get our bathroom serviced twice in a 4 day stay. Other than that great for the price.
