Considering the price it was surprisingly good

The room: I've stayed in hotels in midtown Manhattan in this price range that were truly disgusting and/or barely large enough to walk around the furniture. Here our room was big and clean enough to do yoga on the floor. I always like a fridge, stove top, and microwave when traveling and these are unusual at this price - everything worked. The bed was comfortable.
Location: It was ever so slightly off the beaten track, but very conveniently located to get around town and there was plenty of activity on the street. We (mother and adult daughter) felt safe walking "home" at 11 pm.
Noise: There is a steady stream of buses and trucks. It is noisy, but NYC is noisy. I always travel with ear plugs. It would have been fine, if it were not for the construction. One morning it started at 7 am. They were building a scaffolding platform one floor below us - throwing 2x10 boards onto corrugated metal. It was cacophonous and might have ruined our vacation if it happened other mornings.
Internet: The "regular" free internet is slow – somewhat frustrating even for doing email. There is no hint of that until you check-in. Then they offer "high-speed" for $10/day. One day the "regular" internet didn't work at all.
Staff: Pleasant enough and responsive about early check-in, request for extra soap and towels, quickly repaired difficult door lock. Not helpful about construction noise or internet not working.
All in all, we will probably stay here again.
