Top Midtown Hotel

Posted Aug 31, 2015
Pros: Location, service and ammendities
Cons: A little dark in the lobby but perhaps by design
Location: Midtown in the middle of where the west side meets the east side. Close to virtually all areas of midtown including Grand Central Station, Bryant Park
Quick weekend trip to NYC and it was fantastic. Great service and welcome at the front desk and appreciated the two drinks as being an Expedia VIP member. Room was spacious and very modern. This hotel is the middle ground between a traditional Marriott/Hilton/Hyatt and a Klimpton hotel. Bed was very comfortable and the tub/shower was as big as you'll find in a NYC hotel.

Excellent location and the staff were superb.

Posted Aug 27, 2015
Pros: the atmosphere, the attention to style, the hip and elegant staff, the architecture of the building.
Cons: wifi should be free.
Location: it's times square and fifth avenue...what's not to like?
The rooms were beautifully appointed and the lobby and bar and restaurant areas were the perfect level of hip elegance.

Close to time square

Upgraded to terrific room and I like the lobby vibe. On the downside, the music was too loud in the lobby/bar area at night, and the hallways and elevators were stifling, nit air-conditioned. On the upside, the room was terrific and very comfortable.

David, glad you enjoyed Royalton and our great location. Sorry about the loud music on occasion in the evenings, we try to keep a lively vibe when the sun goes down. Hope to have you back soon!

The staff withdrew the housing fee twice

Posted Aug 6, 2015
Pros: The bed is pretty comfortable.
Cons: front desk service
I pre-ordered online and already paid online. But when my mom and I came in front of the information desk, they asked my mom to show her credit card and after this, they withdraw the housing fee second time by using my mom's card. If my mom didn't yell at me in the lobby about this expensive fees. I didn't notice they made such a mistake at all. Pretty disappointed about this hotel staff.

Hi Oathalice, The hotel is required to take an incident deposit of $150 per night, it is just an authorization and standard industry practice for your incidental expenses. Most hotels, including Royalton, will allow you to make a cash deposit to cover this insomuch as you have a credit card on file to avoid any authorization or holding of funds if this a guests preference. I hope that is helpful. All the best,

Great location and clean rooms. Only disappointing thing was the timing of the readiness of our room. We arrived a few hours early, so we were told our room was not quite ready yet, and that they'd call when it was good to go. We came back about an hour before check in, and still the room was not ready. However, we watched as several other couples came and got their room keys early. Check in time came and passed, still no call, so I had to go back again and ask about our room, and they said it was indeed finally ready. No idea why they didn't call me. Everyone but the front desk people were very courteous and enjoyable to talk to though.

Hi Anonymous, Thank you for the commendations on Royalton's cleanliness and amazing location! We do our best to have our room ready early for arriving guests, but we absolutely guarantee our 3pm check in availability. We are a very popular hotel so sometimes it is difficult to coerce our guests to leave when it is time. We can always guarantee an early check in if the room is reserved the prior night, but do know if you do not elect this more costly option we will try our best to get you before 3pm whenever possible. Hope to have you back with us soon. Safe travels and sincere regards,

John, Thanks for the review and so glad you loved the location and the team at Royalton. I am terribly sorry you didn't enjoy the bed and sorry you had issues with hot water. We have brand new boilers and mattresses, I am sure we will set that part right for you the next time around. Safe travels!

Pros: Location, modern
Cons: None
Location: Right in the heart of the city, 30 seconds from the middle of Times Square
Very professional staff from the second you walk through the door. The rooms were as modern and up-to-date as you can get. Literally a 30 second walk away from being in the middle of Times Square, would highly recommend.

Nice hotel for business or couples.

Posted Jul 28, 2015
Pros: The room was clean and beautiful. The shower was the best hotel shower we have ever experienced. Water was hot and water pressure was excellent.
Cons: The lobby is too dark. It seems as if the hotel is going for a swanky vibe, but it just ends up being a bit weird.
Location: One block away from Bryant Park, which is beautiful. A couple of blocks from Times Square. The street it's located on is not too busy.
Good stay at the Royalton. The lobby was dark, confusing, and a little weird. It's a good place for drinks and socializing, but not necessarily practical for the daytime. Room was beautiful and very spacious for NYC. Had a sitting area, entrance, and alcove bed. Bathroom was nice and clean.
