Room was disappointing

We had been to the Soho Grand many years ago, and the hotel (or our room) was definitely not what it used to be. The room was very small (OK, not surprising in NYC) but it was facing the street and near the elevator, so it was VERY LOUD. Walls were paper thin. But the worst part was the ceiling - it was literally painted plywood - so ugly and cheap looking! - and very weird. Plus the window coverings were pathetic - sheer curtains with no shades. We had to put a blanket over the curtain rod (although that didn't completely cover it!) So no sleeping in for us! But if you are looking for a hotel with a busy lounge, this is the place! But if you want a quiet place to relax after a day in the city, don't come here. We won't be coming back!
