To be totally honest we booked this hotel because of the price, when you have a family of 5 things can get pricey, we read a lot of reviews lots of which weren't so good. but on arrival i have to say i was very pleased, fantastic location 10 minute walk from time square and empire state and opposite Penn station which is fantastic for the subway which is very simple once you've ventured on it for the first time. Anyway back to the hotel, we had a one bedroom suite which was great for us lots of space, lounge and kitchen, yes the hotel is a little tired but it is very old and large so maintenance must need an army to keep on top off, but its cleaned well, now for the noise!!! we stayed on the 24th floor which is 4 from the top and oh boy is it noisy, sirens horns ect etc, but New York is probably the noisiest city on earth and I'm not sure how quiet other hotels would be especially if they are on one of the main avenues, but i can tell you now that it didn't stop me from sleeping because you will be totally exhausted from all the sight seeing, so overhaul we were really pleased with our stay. If you haven't been to new york before be prepare yourself for the prices, nothing is cheap, i have travelled a lot and this has to be the most expensive city I've been to be prepared to spend £25 per head on lunch time snacks and more in the evening especially if you drink beer as this can cost anything from £7 to £12 per pint, hope this helps and happy holidays.
