Not a 4.5 star hotel

Booked this as part of the Mystery Hotel option... it was rated a 4.5.... Not a 4.5 hotel... at least not right now... there was significant construction not 20 feet from my room that started before 7:00 am, they ran out of coffee for the coffee machines so simply said live with Decaf, and while the room was furnished OK, there was significant rust on the shower bar. I do these type deals often in NYC... this one did not fit the rating that I would expect.

Unexpectedly Nice for the Money

Pros: Convenience, updated decor & amenities, service.
Location: Madison Square Garden, Port Authority Bus Terminal, mid-town is nearby, quick access to subways,
Conveniently located near MSG and the PA Bus Terminal, I was quite pleased with the overall experience. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful, the room was modern, big, bright and airy and even had some exercise equipment (a stationary bike, workout ball, etc) right in the room. There was a small bar and restaurant in the lobby and I was given coupons for a free drink and a meal discount at check in (which I did not use due to time constraints). Overall I was very pleased and would stay there again.

Average Hotel at best

My only complaints with this hotel are 1. Room seemed to be just quickly gone over upon my arrival. When it was time for bed I discovered a ball of hair in the sheets. I later discovered the same type of hair all over the shower floor which leads me to believe bedding was never changed between guests. The other give away was the course sand like substance in between the sheets which lead to a very uncomfortable nights sleep. The walls are also paper thin so plan on being up with your neighbors. 2. I checked out of the room 2 nights early and the front desk refused to refund ANY amount of my prepaid invoice which equaled roughly to $600.00 lost. 3. Aside from one bartender (whose name i wish i could remember cause he deserves a shout out) the hotel staff was borderline unprofessional. Between open conversations about private affairs to overall lack of attentiveness, I never really felt comfortable. I am very easy to please so that's what was so disheartening. I simple smile goes a long way.

Pros: The two bathroom with good facilities, very comfortable beds, spacious sitting room, generous hanging and drawer space. Great decor in rooms and halls
Cons: The air conditioning is very noisy. A jug to boil water for tea.
Location: Centrally placed for shopping, entertainment facilities,underground etc.
While the current hot breakfast system is labour saving for management and modern for the guests the eggs (possibly powered) were dry, solid and tasteless. An improvement in this one item lift the stand bu 50%.

Nice hotel, good location!

Enjoyed our stay, big room for New York, comfy bed, close to Times Square (10 min walk) so good location, subway entrance at bottom of street, next to police station so felt a safe street. Would recommend this hotel and if returning to New York would stay here again.

First timers - awesome family hotel

Pros: Staff were all fantastic
Cons: nothing
So this was a last minute booking and I have to admit...I wasn't sure what to expect. First, I was very pleased that there was a parking garage right across the street. We were able to check in at around noon and the room we had was very spacious, clean, and simplistic decor. Two thumbs up! They have a nice little bar with a very nice bartender. My son and his friend had required the need of a very small screwdriver for a souvenir. We directed them to the front desk and immediately a maintenance guy came up and so pleasant in helping the boys. Kudos for that! Overall, great hotel....the wall are a little thin along with guests forgetting that doors slamming shut....can be heard while we are all sleeping. If you stay, make sure you put a do not disturb on your door or the room attendee will try and clean your room at 8am.

Hip Hotel with great staff!

Cons: Nothing!
Location: Two blocks away from MSG
What a surprise this hotel is! Tucked a few blocks away from MSG (perfect overnighter after a concert!) TRYP is a cool place to stay! Fabulous view with cool furnishings, comfy bed and neat shower! Woke up facing a view of the city. Staff was amazingly accommodating and friendly!

Great choice for Midtown stay

Great Location. Hotel is close to Javitz Center and Timesquare. The rooms are very spacious. Breakfast is great, the Gastro is open late and has a great menu. The staf is attentive and welcoming. My second time staying here and I still enjoy it.

Awesome stay at Wyndham

It's the second time my husband and I stay at the Wyndham Times Square South and we always have a good experience! The hotel staff is great, the rooms comfortable and clean, the location is also good.
