Great property at a reasonable price. Austere industrial black building right on street but beautiful inside, especially the lobby. Nice gym. Good sized room was styled w/minimalist decor, but very, very clean! Great bed. Large, attractive, and perfectly maintained bathroom. Appreciated the many small details; coffee maker AND water kettle for tea, good ground coffee (not pods), real glasses (vs plastic), good sized fridge that actually kept food and drinks cold. (Ceramic coffee mugs would have come close to perfect.) Minuses: no room safe or full length mirror. Curtains were shabby (had holes in them.) Good bar on premises. Restaurant with bar food and nice breakfast. Conveniently located to shops and restaurants in Greenpoint and happenin’ Franklin St. Subway within walking distance and hotel has an on-call car service that has very reasonable pricing. Staff were helpful and nice.

Everybody was extremely nice and polite, I was able to just dump my luggage at the front when I checked in and they took it to my room. The bartender was incredibly nice and easy going, I loved it. The decorations with all the art was also incredibly beautiful

Beautiful lobby space and friendly, helpful staff. Easy walkability to anywhere in Greenpoint, BK. Easy to get car service. Rooms and tech in rooms are outdated and need servicing. As with any hotel, there needs to be a surface in the bathrooms to place personal belongings.

Property is unique, colorful, looks like the pictures. Don't like HARD BEDs, No windows in studio apt, claustraphobic, No decent meals in Restaurant! Menu when googled showed full dinner upscale items. Went to restaurant only had lite fare and overpriced items like 6 chicken wings & fries for $17 dollars, no phones in the room, dangerous if there is an emergency. Low toilet seats and low couch made it tough get up from, only other seating was hard wooden bar stools. Rug in front of couch very slippery, I slid trying to get up from the couch! Found dirty black underwear in couch. No amenities for this overpriced hotel. LOVED the staff! The best part of the hotel was customer service, although check in was a very slow process staff was professional, friendly & welcoming from the front door person, front desk, housekeeping and the Irish Bartender is amazing. With that said, we would not book this property again, simply NOT COMFORTABLE!

Wonderful funky space very nicely refurbished into comfortable, functional rooms that still have style and pizzazz. Nice bar with good, if somewhat limited, food. The only caveat would be it's a bit of a walk -- about 10-15 minutes, to the subway, so if walking is hard for you, this might not be your place.

Loved this place. Lovely aesthetic, bright, artsy, open and full of light. We stayed in a family suite...loft apartment, adorably appointed...lots of space, kitchen amenities, tub to soak in after the day out. The bar menu is basic and overpriced, but not unreasonably so, compared to everywhere, currently. We rented a car, and there was ample street parking, and easy access to expressways into the city. Greenpoint has a lot of charm, and I would spend more time, next trip, walking the main streets. Hotel is close to many eateries and conveniences. I would absolutely stay here again.

Expedia had a deal for their frequent travelers, and I got a whole suite for a great price that had an adorable terrace, which was cool cuz I could have made icebox cookies if I wanted to cuz there was a whole kitchen actually! The bed was hard as a rock, but didn't bother my back.The area is chill and an awesome break from the hustle and bustle and generally angry vibe of other parts of Brooklyn. LOVE. Greenpoint.The train is a little bit of a walk, but it's a pleasant/safe walk. Felt safe at all time of day/night. The bartender makes what he likes... and pitches " I won't make that" at people...but not out of hatred.. just NYC nuance, and is really fun. The staff helped me with my million bags up to my room ( no elevators for the suites, so know that!),and consistantly opened the doors of the hotel for me. Accomodating and kind staff.Extended my stay, and stayed in a queen room later, and it was beautiful, cozy, and extremely spacious, and I had a view of the freakin city skyline from my room, and beautiful, perfect Brooklyn.

Love the decor and the cleanliness. Brought my 6yr old daughter my second time here and she loved it as well. Just do not get a taste for munchies in middle of the night and go for the vending machine. What u choose may not come out. Hotel do not refund. U gotta call company on vending machine and go thru all that for refund, and munchies issue still unsolved.

Very cool hotel with large rooms and high ceilings in a great part of Brooklyn. Staff and hotel were excellent, and extra kudos to the great bartender in the restaurant. Also a huge plus on a frigid February day to be able to go directly into the bar from without having to go outside. Highly recommend!

The hotel is truly beautiful and in a great location. We had a rental car and were able to park outside on a Friday evening. There was a wonderful Italian place near. I’m going to say the hotel doesn’t have a strong hold on guests roaming around at any hour. I was woken up twice by very loud and drunk guests who felt like handing out in the hallway at 4 am. At some point I heard someone open their door and tell them to go somewhere else because they were so loud. Security needs to be assessed in this facility. It’s a shame to see such a beautiful facility lack in something so important such as security and quiet hours.

The hotel was perfectly fine, but the air conditioning unit and mini refrigerator were very loud and disrupted my sleep all night when they would turn on every hour. I barely slept and my 2 year old daughter woke up in the middle of the night from the loud air unit. I couldn’t figure out how to turn it off and there was no remote.

The Box House has plummeted downhill since we first stayed there several years ago. The staff are generally unhelpful, and treat guests as inconveniences. On the last night of our stay, the bed broke while we were sleeping at 1:15 a.m. A staff member came up took away the slats and the broken part, and said there were no other rooms available. Basically, tough luck guys. We slept on the mattress under the frame on the floor. The next morning we asked about a refund for the night. One of the front desk clerks smirked "Well, you weren't hurt." No apology. No refund, full or partial. Just a free late check out and a big FU. It pains me to write this review. This was our fourth or fifth stay there, and we once loved this place. But the attitude of the management and staff has really deteriorated.

Room wasn't ready upon arrival. They checked us in and sent us up to the room, only to find a room, filthy. We returned to the desk and were told it would only be 15 minutes. It took almost an hour for them to have the room ready, while we waited in the lobby. Hotel was decent, but nothing was above par, just acceptable.

We stayed in room 202. There are two sets of stairs to get to the room. The receptionist informed us that we had to carry our heavy suitcases as there was no one to help. The room is old and the bathroom horrible, the fan was externally loud and the shower door rusty on the bottom. This room looks more like grandma's house. Needs updates, needs a lot of updates. The so called Patio is a dump, with no view of the city or anything else at least in that side of the hotel. I found it MISLEADING as the website says different. Not all rooms have a "view", mine did not have it. Besides that transportation is a problem. VERY log walk to the subway that can take you to Manhattan, not fun in the rain, not fun in the cold mornings, not SAFE at night. I do not recommend this hotel, or should I say grandma's outdated guest room?

Really quirky boutique hotel in a quiet neighbourhood. My room was large with a living area and nicely appointed bathroom. I also had a balcony. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful and the bar/restaurant had nice drinks and a decent buffet breakfast. I didn’t use the gym or sauna (the sauna appears to not be on permanently) but that area looked fine. To get onto the main underground train network you need to walk over a bridge which takes about 10-15 minutes. The neighbourhood it’s located in feels safe and there are some bars and restaurants in walking distance. My only minor gripes were that the air conditioning unit in my room was a bit noisy, the free WiFi needed reconnecting annoyingly regularly and on one evening I couldn’t use the bar due to a private function. However I was really pleased with my room and the location wasn’t too bad to get into Manhatten.

Huge room, pin drop quiet, comfortable space, interesting decor. Definitely a boutique hotel with lots of originality. A bit far to the subway when pouring rain or with a chilly wind. Ubers to destinations in downtown Brooklyn or Manhattan were expensive. Instead, took them to nearby subway station.
