Perfect hotel in NY

The hotel is perfect located and the staff is superfriendly, particularly in the front desk. Rooms are incredible spacious for NY standars, modern well decorated. Everything was simply perfect.

Fantastic stay but needs a few adjustments

Posted May 15, 2016 on Hotels
I really loved the location of this hotel. It's across the street from the NYC Library and Bryant Park, which is a fantastic place on a warm day. Plus, there are incredible restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, etc in all directions within a block or 2 away. The problems were that the staff was not genuinely friendly. They were fake and expected a tip at every turn. Also the beds were ROCK hard. Everything else about the place was fantastic!!

Great Choice For Almost Everything

Posted May 2, 2016 on Hotels
The restaurant, Koi, is excellent and a locals destination; so is the Cellar, the basement bar/club. Bryant Park, right across the street, is a rare green space for NYC. Rooms are nice, large for the city, say in direct comparison the the insanely tiny rooms of the Archer on 38th, though the latter has a lobby with seating which the former sorely needs, and could have with a little redecoration. Also, it could use a coffee maker of some kind to compliment the decent minibar, (Archer has a Nescafé!). The building also would be a fantastic place to host a rooftop bar like the Archer's, but alas, there is only event space up there. Location is probably the best comprise in the city, walk to Javits Convention Center, shows, midtown shopping, MOMA, MSG, ESB, etc., and just right for either avoiding or walking to the craziness of Times Square. The people working there are excellent as well. Can't really go wrong with this place, especially if good location/setting, staff and room size are important to you. Wins over the Archer.

New meaning to Room and Board!

Posted Apr 17, 2016 on Hotels
There were two very disturbing parts to our stay--1) it took 90 minutes for us to check in because the front desk said they did not have the confirmation email from Hotels.com and we had to wait and wait and wait-which at 11:30 at night is not cool or appreciated. Secondly, because they took so long they said they were upgrading us to a suite (which in theory was appreciated). However, when we opened the door to the room, what we saw was a conference room. Turns out as you go to the back of that conference room, there is a bedroom off to the left. It was TOTALLY WEIRD and CREEPY! The bedroom itself was fine--but that is the strangest impression to have when opening a hotel room door without given any guidance as to what the room actually was. Also, although told it was a suite, it was really just that Boardroom next to the bedroom--there was not sitting area--or even a real chair, except for the Boardroom chairs...next time I want to have a small board meeting, and repair to the bedroom for a nap, I will know where to book!

good size room; great midtown location; no coffee

one big issue is not only is there no coffee service in the room there is none in the hotel - you have to go to KOI next door for coffee and it is $5k/cup

Great stay

Some minor inconveniences in the room, like the bed comforter was too thin and so it wasn't very cozy to sleep, and the lighting in the room wasn't very comfortable on the eyes, but all in all, it was an excellent stay with very friendly and accommodating staff.
