This property is currently undergoing major restoration, which I didn’t know when I booked but they did tell me before I arrived. But the extent of the works is unbelievable. The lifts don’t work, there is one shared bathroom on my floor and everything is dusty. The email said works would be strictly 8-4, but this was not the case. There’s no amenities, not even bottles of water. It was fine but It is not worth $170usd per night.

After you pay for your room, they let you know the property is under construction. The Entire property. Look, the staff are good and the rooms are what you expect for old sailors quarters. It’s kinda cool. But the pics of the common spaces to lure you into thinking you’re staying in a very unique, bohemian hotel are gone. All floors including the lobby are completely decimated. Construction starts at 7am. And it’s full on jackhammers and drills while you’re sleeping. The hotel shouldn’t be in operation. It’s a bit of a con job by the new ownership. But hey, if none of that bothers you, go for it.

I knew coming in that The Jane was undergoing renovations. And I got an amazing price. The staff was very attentive. The room was quite cozy and the shared bathrooms spotless. I can’t wait to see what The Jane will look like after the renovations. Again, the staff were sooooo great and I got huge value from staying here.

Is construction zone ,u should close to do renovation ..workers and dust everywhere ,then rooms are so small ,luke a little cabin train ,1 bathroo for 30 guests ??? ..take off hotel and put hostel ..as that is not an hotel ..

I love The Jane and have stayed here many times over the last decade. However, the on-going construction with workers crowding the elevators and stairways, along with most of the building in transition made it more challenging to enjoy this time.

I was informed AFTER I booked my stay that the hotel was being renovated. Rebuilt is more descriptive. Dust, plastic sheeting, noise and finally a renegade fire alarm. Never again!

At the price of $100-120 per night, this was at best a 2.5 star experience. The hotel was in active construction during our stay, which the Jane did inform us about after the booking was made, but the extent of the construction was much more than I expected - the lobby was very spare and dusty, the elevator was operational but the stairs were blocked off, and construction workers used the same bathrooms as the guests. The bunk bed room was extremely tight and cramped (basically the size of a closet), which is too small for a space for two people to put down their belongings. The bedding was clean and towels were provided, but the bunk bed felt shaky and unstable and it was difficult to climb up/down from the top bunk. This would have been worth it only if it had been $50/night rather than $100 per night.

It smells like pee in the hall. It is literally under construction with blocks and plastic wrap in parts of the halls and the lobby! At 11:30pm suddenly started a terrible noise of clanking metal for over an hour!!!. The room is the size of a 1.5 twin beds and I just hope it didn’t have some bug infestation. It was terrible! If you have any other choice, book elsewhere.

We knew the property would be under renovation while we were there. They are pretty significant renovations, but they are confined to daytime hours and our room and the bathroom themselves were just as we expected them to be. The bunk bed rooms are tiny, but serviceable for two people so long as you don't have really large suitcases. And the community bathrooms were well-maintained. I'd definitely suggest bringing shower shoes.

It's tough because this place has a real opportunity to be a wonderful space that people would flock to. Unfortunately, there's so much construction atm, and most of the building needs a facelift, yet it has a lot of guests. Who knows, and for how it looks and feels, as well as what you get for the money you're spending, it's too expensive. You're really just paying for the neighbourhood.

Rooms are tiny, they fit only a twin-sized bed and a tiny walking space. The shared bathroom had 2 showers and 2 toilets for a floor that likely had 50 rooms. Stay here for a capsule hotel type of arrangement.

The space was comfortable & very clean (although the temp was a little challenging to control, I did find a comfortable temp). The bathrooms were in good condition given their communal nature & the age of the building. I knew about the renovations ahead of time, so not really a problem other than understandable aesthetics & noise issues.

I had stayed here a few years ago. It was a lot nicer. This time, not so much. 1. There was a lot of construction going on, dirty, dusty. It would of been nice to know ahead of time! 2. Their café was closed. they had no vending machines with no drinks or anything. 3. The rooftop bar was under construction. There was so much construction that they should of just closed the hotel. I most likely will not stay there again.

I liked the location in the West Village. The building still shows some beautiful historic details and features. The bed linens were very soft and pristinely clean. However…the room was painfully tiny with no place to put luggage or anything else you might want at night. The heating was either on full blast or shut off. The provided robe was laughably small for most adults, I couldn’t even close it properly. The carpet was unpleasant to look at or stand on in bare feet. Fortunately I brought shower shoes with me. Finally, the mattress was very uncomfortable and springs poked me. The hotel staff was very responsive and switched the room for me. I cannot fault the staff for anything, they did their best. I will be most interested in seeing the results after the hotel renovations.

I have stayed here numerous times throughout the year. For the money it's a good value and a quick Subway ride to Times Square. My room was small as expected and it was clean. The hallway carpets are starting to show their age but the hotel is undergoing a fairly extensive renovation. By this time next year there will be many improvements and I fear I will not be able to afford staying there. The custodial/housekeeping staff did a very good job keeping the shared bathrooms clean and that was very appreciated.

Understand renovation but hotel is like a hostel/fall-out shelter, walls and ceilings ripped up, dust everywhere, dark openings and tarp covered blind spots in hallways. To a woman travelling solo, it felt unsafe. Front desk clerk announced my room number in front of a line of other guests, very bad form, should of course write number down and not announce. I loved staying at The Jane multiple times in the last few years, was safe and charming then. Not now. Never again.

The Jane is undergoing major renovations. So, there is a tiny space in the lobby and your room. Plastic and construction most other areas. That is ok, but hoped to find some ice, etc. The bunk cabin is very, very small - smaller than a similar room at the Y. It is hard for two people to negotiate, the surface is the window sill.

This property had construction going on from the crack of dawn all though through the day. The staff was kind but there was nothing they could do about the excessive noise. They should have closed during construction because the noise was obnoxious. This stay was not relaxing by any means.

The hotel is under full construction. The hallway fan was so loud that we had to change to another floor on the first night. The elevator was also broken. We had a reservation for 5 nights and cancelled after one night. We ended up moving to another hotel.

Hotel is under renovation so it is a wreck! Elevator doesn’t work, restaurant, ballroom, rooftop are closed. The staff was very accommodating including a bellman who carried my suitcase up & down the stairs. I would recommend waiting until the reno’s are completed. The location is great; funky shops, restaurants the Hi Line & the river across the street.

There was construction that I was not warned about until after paying. Sheets were clean but the comforter looked like it hadn’t been washed recently. Not a great odor in the room but not sure if due to construction or if it always smells that bad. Overall not a great experience but it was cheap.
