Loved our stay here! Staff at the front desk was welcoming and very friendly. Our room was cozy and had everything we needed. The second floor offers a quiet place to sit and provides snacks, water, and coffee! The rooftop bar was very nice with great cocktails and tasty small bites. The area is busy with lots to see and many places to eat - returning to the hotel at the end of our long days was always super pleasant.

Library Hotel is a hidden gem in Manhattan, especially for book lovers, with its unique books decor setting in every nook and cranny. My husband and I loved the ease of access to the Reading Room on the 2nd floor with 24 hour availability of healthy snacks - a sufficient variety of mixed nuts (at least 4 different options), energy bars and fruits (apples, bananas), coffee, teas and water. The Reading Room encouraged afternoon lounging and a place to revive after a day out walking. The hotel is ideally located along Library Way within a block of the New York Public Library and around the corner from the Grand Central Station (for ease of transportation links) and close enough (walkable) to shopping, theatre and other scenic sites (like the St Patrick's Cathedral). At each step, from check in to check out, the hotel's team members (whether at the front desk, cleaning staff or at the Reading Room) were very approachable, accommodating and personable. The hotel's on-site restaurant Madison and Vine offered well-presented and tasty Italian meal options. Having arrived late evening from a long international flight we were welcomed there and immediately served (at around 9.30pm). Our petite room booked was more than apt, on the 8th Floor with our selected Literature theme. Overall, we loved the hotel's cosy, comfortable and feel-inspired writers' vibe, and we would stay again. Thank you Library Hotel!

The staff was so friendly and courteous. The amenities were above and beyond all expectations. Umbrellas were provided as we went out to explore the city in the rain, espresso and gourmet snacks in the reading room and extra treats at the rooftop lounge (just for being a guest). The room was also very spacious for a boutique hotel in the city. Easy walk to major sites, museums and shows. We’ll definitely stay here again - every time we come to NYC.

I’ve stayed at your hotel years ago and it was wonderful. With that said, I was so incredibly disappointed this time. The hotel is so rundown. The rooms were old, the walls were stained, the towels were so ratty that they felt like sandpaper, the sofa was disgusting, and the toiletry products were sub par. If you want to continue charging what you do, then you need to do some simple upgrades.

Loved the whole library vibe, even the quiet reading room! The rooftop bar was not very helpful and we felt a bit stupid for not following what seemed to be the process. Reservations for a bar? Closing time? Where to sit? All in all, a wonderful place.

We were blown away by our stay. The staff was friendly and the property was gorgeous. The lounge area on the second floor was a game changer and being able to get an espresso and a small snack was a great way to decompress after walking around the city. The room was small, but honestly larger than we expected and was perfect for our needs. We will go out of our way to stay here again and would highly recommend it to our friends.

Staff was excellent. Extremely helpful. The library on the 2nd floor is the best thing about the hotel. Coffee, tea, sodas, nuts and fruit are always available in that comfortable room. Great place to gather. Picked up bagels in the morning, brought them back there for breakfast. Room was very small for the price. I've stayed all over the city for higher and lower prices, this was one of the smallest rooms. Service at the rooftop bar and in the 1st floor restaurant is very slow.

The hotel touts itself as a luxury boutique when in reality is it just a small hotel. I would not call it high end and I have stayed at hotels with similar price points but much cozier and elegant. The 24 hour library lounge and snacks, and the rooftop terrace, are nice. If you book the petite room, be aware that it is extremely small (smaller than any dorm room I've had) and that it is a double (not queen) bed. In addition, there is no place to sit to watch TV or relax, other than a very stiff desk chair. Very little room also to put a suitcase down on the floor. And no door to the bathroom (just the toilet). There is no continental breakfast, only an add on for a voucher for $20 to have it in the onsite restaurant. There was confusion about this at the front desk. The area around the hotel is good for walking - going to Fifth Ave, Bryant Park, Times Square. Not so great for shopping or restaurants though. Mostly business, not residential. I did not like that they have a very restrictive reservation policy. With most hotels on Expedia, you have until 24 or 48 hours before to cancel. This one was 7 days. Also, if you have to cancel, it is not one night's penalty, it is the whole trip. That made me very uncomfortable. When I spoke to Expedia, they said that the hotel would refund me if I changed hotels, but the hotel said bluntly "no". So, confusion about that also. I found the staff to be somewhat snippy and uncaring that I was not happy with the room.

Hello Leslie,Thank you for staying with us and sharing your experience. We are a small, boutique hotel with only 60 rooms, a 24-hour lounge with refreshments, a rooftop bar, and a restaurant. We are very transparent with the size and descriptions of our rooms, especially our Petite Room with One Full Bed. We offer several pictures of our rooms, along with the square footage and bed type; and even go as far as describing the room as petite in the title of the room in the case of our Petite Room with One Full Bed. You can find two chairs in the room, a desk chair next to the bed and a much more comfortable lounge chair near the television. There is also a door for every bathroom in every room.We do not offer a continental breakfast, as you seem to imply that we falsely advertise, but we do offer a hot breakfast at our onsite restaurant, with a discount for guests of the hotel should they want to purchase a voucher.The hotel is very centrally located, as you mention, and very close to many great tourist destinations in New York City, including shopping on 5th Avenue. There are also many great restaurants in the neighborhood that our guest service agents would be happy to recommend that are just a short walk from the hotel.We want all of our guests to be happy and to enjoy their stay with us. This is why we were willing to waive our cancellation fee and to help find you other accommodations for your visit, but you ignored our attempts to contact you, even rejecting a call from our General Manager.We hope you enjoyed your visit to New York and wish you nothing but the best.Best,
