Management unconcerned with safety of guests!
My friend & I were staying at the Sohotel & during the first night of our stay around 2AM an intruder was breaking into our room through the window. It was a very horrifying experience that Sohotel did not take seriously! They were more worried about how he was able to get onto the roof & did not seem concerned that we could have been seriously injured or even worse. My friend went into "fight" mode & literally pushed him out the window so that he couldn't get inside. I guarantee Sohotel would be dealing with thousands of $$ in property damage had my friend not interfered & he broke through the window. The staff on duty that night were very helpful & called the NYPD & they offered to move us to a different room on the third floor. However, we never were asked to file a report and in hindsight, I really wish we would have. We spoke with the manager a day after the incident (we stayed there 3 nights) & their response was they were very sorry it happened & they were currently reviewing the footage. So, they didn't believe us even though the staff and NYPD saw the guy on the roof? My friend & I actually had to point out where he was hiding on the roof when the police arrived. We never received an update about this incident. Was he arrested? A guest? We asked to be compensated & the manager said she was working with upper management. Yet, when we received our bill, they only took care of the $58 service fee!!! Ridiculous! We should have received a full refund at the very least!!!!
