Classy hotel

Posted Jan 23, 2017
It shows it's age on the floors however. Rooms could use some updating as well as central heating and air

We had a great weekend at this historic hotel

Posted Jan 23, 2017
Pros: Its a beautiful, historic place and the rooms were huge! Loved the service. Everyone was friendly and helpful.
Cons: It was annoying to have to pay $60 a piece for the Sunday brunch buffet because we could not order a la carte breakfast in any restaurant in the hotel
Location: Not in the heart of the tourist district, thank goodness. Very nice location for 5th Avenue, theaters, and Rockefeller Plaza.
We had a very reasonably priced one-bedroom suite. The room was enormous and comfy. It was definitely dated, but we loved the faded beauty of the art deco decor. The staff was exceptionally attentive. We ordered a lot of room service, which (for once) was not overpriced! Everything arrived quickly and was delicious. The location was great! Easy to walk most places and plenty of cabs at the door.

Dated hotel

Posted Jan 20, 2017
Not as grand as you would think. Needs a total remodel. Doesn't live up to it's name. Very disappointing

Old New York at its finest

Posted Jan 20, 2017
I was in town for a convention and my office is around the corner. My girlfriend came to NYC, we walked literally 22 miles around the city, saw my son in NOHO, had dinner at a cool restaurant and the next night saw a great play. Perfect work/play trip.

Nice, as usual.

You can tell they are closing soon. Staff lacked the luster they normally show.

Beautiful hotel and perfect location

Posted Jan 13, 2017
The hotel is gorgeous, it's an old hotel with lots of Art Deco charm. I stayed in a Superior King room which was spacious (for NYC) and had a nice view. Everything was clean and I was very happy with the staff there.

Hot and cold

Posted Jan 9, 2017
Thermostat in the room did not regulate heat. We Arrived late the first night and there was nothing we/they could do. We hardly slept in the 80 degree heat. There was also no COLD water. It was scalding hot. Hotel manager was very friendly but basically told us to open a window and turn off the heat. They sent someone to fix the water while we were out the next day. We came back to take showers before our dinner reservation and still had only scalding water. They offered to send someone up again. After explaining again that we had dinner reservations and given that they had not fixed it the first time, I asked to be moved. We were given the same room on a different floor that had no problems. There were personal follow up apologies from the manager. She was very nice, but after acknowledging and apologizing it was left to me to act. We didn't get any sleep which made for a rough first day in NYC, especially for my children. We then had to hurry to pack and move rooms. We will not stay there again.
