Great location and views but not as good as hoped

Posted Nov 27, 2016 on Hotels
A fantastic location in a historic landmark building , convenient for the shops and the seafront and right opposite the famous pier- but the whole hotel has a budget feel. It's very bright and quite minimal inside which doesn't fit with the regency building. Room fittings are pretty basic and the breakfast wasn't great. Also be aware that if you leave your car in the multi storey opposite after 9am you will be charged the full 24 hr rate of £14

Convenient. Peaceful. Relaxing. Comfortable.

Misread the map and thought the hotel was nearer Newark centre when we booked but, after looking round the town, we thoroughly enjoyed our overnight stay. This was a mistake I didn't mind making. Pleasant setting, comfortable, nice staff and the best ribeye steak since Texas.

Quiet Overnight in the Country

Posted Apr 12, 2016
Pros: Friendliness of staff, cleanliness and breakfast
Cons: Offer choice of kingsize or double beds (rooms allowing)
Location: River walks nearby, Kelham Hall & Country Park opposite - free access to parts of hall (weddings excepted) - cafe too. Lots of good pubs in Newark
Turning off the road into long driveway of hotel, presents you with what is to come - neat and tidy driveway, gardens and car park - no detail out of place. Friendly welcome by hotel reception staff as we entered a spacious entrance hall. Lots of information, questions answered and directed to room. First floor room by stairs. Room key (wow, none of your swipe cards :) ). Again, neat, tidy and purposeful bedroom with more than adequate storeage space. Double-bed (would have preferred king-size) but very comfortable sleep. View from window out onto adjoining fields. Nice heating, so much so windows opened and little but nature to listen to. Bathroom immaculate (probably new), large (length of room), nice fittings. Shower (hot) over bath. Breakfast in morning (8 to 10) plenty of choice, friendly service, made to order. Plenty of coffee/tea/toast. Don't forget to take a walk across the road to Kelham Hall & Country Park - breath in the country air! 5 minutes drive into Newark and all its history. Lovely place - will visit again, and enjoy more of the surrounding countryside

Slept like a baby and fed like a king.

The setting was only out done by the exceptional level of service. All the staff were extremely helpful and attentive. The room was a good size and you could swing at least 2 cats in the bathroom. The bed was super comfortable and we had a really good night's sleep.

A very nice hotel with friendly and accommodating staff and good food. However I was a little disappointed with the bathroom facilities. No hot water and a deluge in the shower.
