It's easy to walk to both the town and the granite trail. Beautiful area.

Honeysuckle Cottage was build around 1880 'where the Mourne sweep down to the sea'. You will find the original Sash windows, historic cast iron fireplaces (deko) and a working wood burning stove. Although recently renovated, the cottage still has a lot of the period features. There are two bedrooms with double beds upstairs with nice sea views (one is a small double). The bathroom (shower and bath) is on the middle floor. You will have a dining and a TV room. The fully equipped kitchen can be used for home cooking. There is a washing machine and dryer available. There is some outdoor space to the front and the back. The Newcastle harbour area is very popular. There are restaurants and bars nearby as well as a small grocery shop. Newcastle with further Restaurants and entertainment is only 15 minutes walk along the seaside. The Mourne Mountains can be accessed (via the Granite Trail or Donard park) directly from here.

My daughter and I stayed in Honeysuckle cottage for 3 nights in March 2018. We intended to go walking in the Mourne mountains but unfortunately the weather was not permitting. The cottage was lovely and warm however, the owner had kindly left the heating on for us arriving. The owner had kept in touch with us prior to our arrival and made us feel very welcome and was also very helpful throughout our stay. The cottage is well equipped and we cooked most of our meals without a problem but our favourite pastime was sitting in front of the lovely log burner. We would certainly love to stay here again in the future.
