Nice hotel with pool near to friends we were visit

Posted Jan 16, 2017
Pros: Rooms comfy and spacious, buffet breakfast really extensive.
Cons: £6 per day for parking is ridiculous, seeing as the barriers didn't work, and it wasn't exactly in the middle of town.
Everything was pretty good. Rooms comfy and spacious, buffet breakfast really extensive.

Dirty bathroom

Posted Jan 5, 2017
Pros: Courteous staff
Cons: Hygiene
Location: We chose this hotel because it is the closest to my niece's residence. I am not aware of any attractions close-by
There was black mold around the shower base. Towels, coffee mugs and the shower were not clean. I mentioned this to the front desk staff who graciously apologized but no action was taken. For that matter I could not trust the sheets and towels which was uneasy. I did not use the pool, sauna and gym nor ate at the restaurant as I could not trust their hygiene. We are planning another family reunion next February. This hotel was chosen because it is the closest to my niece's residence. I have advised others to find another hotel.

Weekend family break

Posted Oct 31, 2016
Pros: Facilities, location and breakfast
Cons: Sofa bed - needs to go in the skip truly awful!
Location: Theatre Royal, Hancock (Great North) Museum, Life Centre, Discovery Museum
Overall this is a great hotel in a good location easy access from the A1, parking on site, small swimming pool and a cracking breakfast, close enough to walk down to the local metro so you can leave the car parked up before heading into the city centre with all it offers (shopping, museums, theatre, restaurants etc). Just one little thing let the room down this time, the pull out sofa bed (we booked a family room double and twin beds) - basically the sofa bed was perhaps the WORST bed I've ever had the misfortune to TRY and sleep on - Novatel need to check their beds this one should go in the skip - other than that great place to stay.

Great value

Posted Oct 12, 2016
We stayed for one night before catching a flight. The staff were very friendly & helpful. The room had a good selection of amenities, it was in really good condition & clean. We would have been really pleased with our stay if it hadn't been for the bedding - which made loads of noise whenever you move! It was a shame - because otherwise, it would have been a 5 star review from us.

Great base for a few days change of scenery

Posted Aug 6, 2016
Pros: The Hotel was clean and the staff excellent without being pushy.
Cons: The shower leaked on to the bathroom floor - but that's just being pernickety.
Location: As noted in main body of comment.
Having stayed here before my wife and I knew what to expect concerning the quality of the Hotel. It is a 3 star plus Hotel with the staff to match. From the moment we came in we received a pleasant welcome and the standard double room was clean and spacious. The buffet breakfast was well laid out and on request we were able to order specific meals including poached eggs and porridge. There was a well presented variety of food that would have satisfied any need (healthy and maybe not so healthy lol). One of the servers 'Natasha' was extremely helpful in our dietary requirements. The Hotel is situated approx. 3/4 mile walking distance from the Kingston Park Metro station. It is down hill but requires effort coming back up. Possible bus could be used but we didn't. Recommend Metro from the airport (3rd stop)- half the price of a taxi or Novotel shuttle. Day ticket allows travel of the whole system and the North/South shields ferry. Shopping facilities and restaurants are excellent close by. If you have walking difficulties then bring a car but if not it is a highly recommended Hotel to use as abase of exploration or just casual relaxation. They have a swimming/leisure area however we didn't have time to use it and cant comment on it.

Better than an average 3* hotel, family thumbs up

Posted May 13, 2016
Pros: Location was just what we were looking for, far better than some of the cheaper chains.
Cons: Cost of the breakfast was a bit high and it would be nice if the £6 parking charge was included.
Location: Close to A1, access north and south is easy, to explore the Northumbrian coast, easy walk to Kingston Park metro station to get into the TOON!
Great hotel and location for a short family break (2 adults 2 children), close to good road and metro links, staff were very helpful and friendly, rooms were a good size and everywhere was clean and tidy.
