Welcoming B&B in the perfect location!

Posted Feb 25, 2017
Pros: The location was walking distance to the harbor and mansions. The rooms were kept clean and updated. Breakfast food and view can't be beat.
Cons: Not much! The house is historical but Phil is currently updating some rooms!
Location: Shopping and restaurants in downtown Newport are a 10 minute walk from the hotel. The Elms mansion, our favorite tour, was directly behind the hotel.
We went for a mid-week trip and were amazed by the hospitality of the management. They welcomed us early and were happy to help with any questions that we had about the area. The Victoria room was the perfect size with the bathroom inside the room. A small sitting room with coffee and homemade biscotti was a nice extra comfort. The best part of the stay is breakfast on the third floor. The view of the harbor is beautiful and the farm fresh food cooked as you enter was delicious.

Very home-like facility

Cons: TV screen was a bit smaller than expected, but not a problem. Heat seemed to "cut out" in the middle of the night. Towels need to be newer.
Location: Several good eateries within walking distance. Close to the Mansions of Newport, to Salve Regina University. Close to downtown area.
Great location. Pleasant staff. Received upgrade. Very good breakfast. Pleasant atmosphere. Clean room.

The B&B was really in a wonderful location and a charming place. The owner knew everything about the mansions, the local restaurants and bars. In addition he was a great cook with a new creation each morning.

No better place for mansion exploration!

Posted Dec 22, 2016
Pros: Location, on-site parking, the room.
Cons: Softer sleeping pillows for the bed.
Location: Mansions, mansions, mansion. And just a few minute's drive to shopping areas and restaurants.
The Inn is easy to get to and the onsite parking is a great relief. The narrow streets in some parts of town often require on-sidewalk parking. No such worry with this place. Park your car and within 15 steps you're at the back door. The home is warm and friendly and the Innkeeper is the same way. Our room, Annie's, was good-size, had a private bathroom, an enclosed porch and a small balcony. Had a dorm-size frig which came in handy. You are literally across the street from The Elms and can walk to it in 3 minutes. Other mansions are within a 7 to 10 minute walk, and for the other mansions farther down the street, just hop in your car for a 2 minute drive- and all the other mansions have their own parking lots. Renting out the whole place would make a great family reunion location! And you'd save a fortune by having your main meals in the breakfast room on the top floor, as a full kitchen is available.

We absolutely love the Artful Lodger! We definitely had a first class experience. The room was lovely, breakfast was too delicious for words and Phil was a wonderful host.

Fall Trip

Posted Nov 12, 2016
Pros: We did like the location and the fact that there was a parking lot for guests. Streets around are one way and very narrow.
Location: This was a great location as it was an easy walk to the waterfront, shopping, and restaurants. Also easy to walk to a couple of the Mansions.
Breakfast was ok, would like to see more fruit but that's just me. The dining area was on the 3rd floor which I thought was a little odd, but there was a great view once you were up there. The stairs up were narrow and steep so if you have any type of disability you probably could not get up there.
