Wonderful experience!

I had traveled to Newport just after the holidays and the new year. My lifelong friend, his wife, the rest of their family, and myself were in town to attend the graduation ceremony and commissioning of their oldest child. She now serves as an Ensign in the U.S. Navy. I myself served as a Hospital Corpsman with a Marine Corps line company, during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. As a result, to be able to watch my Goddaughter achieve such an accomplishment, and help celebrate was especially meaningful. Had it not been for the superior customer service, marvelous accommodations, amenities, and general atmosphere of the Hotel Vicking, none of the precious moments I was afforded, would have occurred. I am forever grateful to Jackson, Sam, and the entirety of the hotel staff for their diligence, pleasantness, and willingness to accept nothing less than our parties complete satisfaction. Nice Newport hotel

Usually Viking is expensive. Stayed there on Dec 23 for very low rate. Hotel nice and nicely decorated. Easy walk into town.

The HVAC was noisy. Smelled cigarette smoke coming from the bath exhaust fan. Staff was great.

Historical resort yet facilities need 2 B updated

The room is designed in a 20s style, which is interesting. However, the fan system in the bathroom makes a really loud noise every time you turn it on.

Pros: Nice place
Cons: Not charge for pool
Nice place, but because we used Expedia they charged me for pool!!!lol

Pretty hotel with lots of charm and tradition . Great location. Hotel bar a big disappointment. Looks like a Holiday Inn Express. Too contemporary, doesn't match hotel charm . But Viking is close enough to many pubs and restaurants .

A fabulous last minute trip! A gorgeous room and services unsurpassed by most modern hotels. Great food and great drinks. Can't wait to return!

Good location, close to the town.

Cons: The heating unit and the valet parking should be included in the room price.
Very noisy heating unit in the room, it kept waking us up during the night when it would cycle on and off. The hotel was very clean and the employees very nice. The only complaint I have (besides the heat) was the valet parking. The valets were extremely helpful and fast, but I think $15 a day plus a tip every time I got the car was too expensive. BTW they only put the cars behind the building, where I could have parked it myself.

Close to everything..

I love the decoration of the hotel and all the amenities that it offers. The room is kinda small and they don't have enough sugar for the coffee. I would definitely go back.

The rooms are beautifully furnished and the all of the staff were exceptionally welcoming. We loved our waitress Michelle and I highly recommend the skillet omelet. We did, however, miss the old wood bar and found the new one too modern for the old world elegance of the hotel.
