Great feel tonit

Posted Nov 4, 2017
Hotel was lovely, under renovations for new restaurant but overall was nice. Bed wasn't the softest but that was the only thing I could complain about. Oh and there wasn't an elevator! Decorated super cute though and in a nice neighborhood so had a more homey feel to it.

Thank you for the lovely review and comments! We would love to invite you back to enjoy our NEW restaurant once construction is complete. We love serving the Kiln Creek and are glad you too enjoyed the homey atmosphere that encompasses the resort. We took note on our bed. We have firm mattresses but next time you stay we will provide you with one of our luxury pillow tops as an added comfort!. Just mention this to the front desk and the Manager will accommodate your needs! Take care until we meet again!

Just ok

A friend and I were in N.News for business. There was construction going on to recreate the restaurant. ( so no food available for guests) The outside wall of the construction was also the inside of the hallway to the rooms of the "Lodge". Lots of noise! The rooms are nicely appointed, clean, and beds comfortable. The outside deck had mold on the concrete floor, and cigarette buts strewn about. The slider would not lock. Seemed like management was not paying attention. We never saw any other guests in hallways. Were we the only ones?? That says something! Staff asked us if they could change the lock on the room, while we were out of the room . No, thank you! Maybe they will be in better shape by next golf season, but at this time, we felt like an inconvenience.

Good day! I know we spoke before your departure, However we want to address this matter for any guests in the near future. We are currently under renovation of our new restaurant and event space. However, we have 2 food options that are available for dining. We have upgraded our hotel locks to Mobile Keys, a new technology that makes the guests stay more accessible and user friendly. We appreciate all of our guests reviews of their stay because this is how we grow and maintain our stand of excellence. We enjoy meeting every guest that stays with us as we a small boutique hotel. We take every detail into account and while our rooms are immaculate we have implemented a routine to continually address the mentioned concerns and keep to a luxurious standard. Feel free to contact the Hotel Manager at any time during your stay as it is our mission to provide our guests a wonderful stay! Thank you again,

Disaster, but probably just my luck

Posted Sep 5, 2017
Pros: Finally, in tears, I called the hotel for the third time and was told Oh. You can check in 24 hours. You needed to call first. I did not want to...
Cons: take out my frustrations with this young man, since it wasn't his fault. He was outstanding and helpful and I'm so sincerely grateful to him. He...
Location: walked me to my room so I'd be safe. He deserves a raise I finally got in at 1:30am and the carpet and bed was WET. Construction begin @ 8am. :)
On my way to Newport News I had a series of unfortunate events occured that put me about an hour and a half behind schedule. I didn't have time to check into the hotel when I arrived in town and figured it might be midnight or later before I could, so I called the hotel to ask if there was a cut off for check in. No one answered the phone, and I left a message telling them my situation and asked for a call back. This was about 10am. No call back. I called again at 6pm and the guy on the phone said, oh yes, 24 hour, no problem. I thanked him and hung up. I got to the hotel at about 12:30 am and went to pull up into the circle in front of what I assumed was the hotel lobby, got about halfway, and got stuck, because the road was closed, since the hotel was under construction. I had a very hard time backing out and getting turned around. I drove to the other end of the parking lot and tried to get into one of the entrances an a key card was required. I walked back to where I originally pulled in and looked all around. I could not see a counter, there were no people, and the automatic doors were locked and would not open. Then I saw a sign that said, hotel left. I walked left and came to the other side of the building that I first tried to get into. Again, no access. I turned around and saw a sign by a door that said, Lobby I tried it. It took was locked. I ended up wandering around the hotel grounds for about 45 min to an hour, in the middle of the night, ALONE...

Superb Hotel

Posted Jul 27, 2017 on Hotels
My husband and I were delighted with our stay at The Lodge in Newport News, Virginia. We found the hotel/resort to be excellent across the board. The room was great; it was clean, welcoming and smelled fresh. We were delighted to hear that a restaurant is underway in renovation/construction, which will be a huge plus for guests, and especially if the food is good. The only negative that we observed is the fact the fact that the hotel doesn't yet have an elevator, but we learned that that is also being rectified. The reason I mentioned it is because we had a number of pieces of luggage, and I was on the mend from a sciatic nerve insult so walking up and down the stairs posed some discomfort. But I'd highly recommend staying there as I'm certain my husband and I will again when we're in the area.

Overall I was really happy with my stay. There were a lot of positives: Great decorating/furniture, huge TV, large refrigerator, nice desk/eating area, nice view of golf area, friendly staff. If you like to golf, this is a perfect spot. The location is close to a lot of stores, restaurants, a mall, and the highway. It's also close to the Newport News airport but I never heard any noise from that. Their pictures do a great job of showing the property because that's exactly what it looks like (I added some that I took for comparison). However, there were a few things that I was disappointed with. The pool is saltwater and is open to the entire Kiln Creek Community, so it was very crowded every day with residents and their guests, which included a lot of small, screaming children. I was really disappointed because I was looking forward to a private pool to enjoy on my vacation without being splashed and listening to constant yelling. It should be noted on the website/listing that this is not a private pool for hotel guests. Also, towels are not provided at the pool so you have to bring your own (unless you want to use your bathroom towels). There is no elevator, so if you are on the second floor you do have to carry your suitcases upstairs. There is currently construction so I cannot speak about the restaurant as it is closed. Overall it's very nice and I would stay here again, but I would definitely prefer a private pool!
