Only hotel in area

Posted Apr 20, 2017
Pros: The location was convenient for this visit. The evening meals were well prepared and tasty.
Cons: Cleanliness. Storage for clothing. Reconfiguring the bathroom door to enable easy access. Better security locks
Location: No nearby restaurants or any other amenity. There is a nearby golf course and path through the fens.
I am very familiar with HI, to the point of having a loyalty card. This hotel was not up to the standard. The rooms were just barely clean. There were no drawers for clothes storage, and it was difficult for two people to find room to keep their suitcases open to serve as drawers. The bathroom in the standard room was so small it required some manoeuvring to get through the door. The soap dispenser was a squeeze bottle nailed to the wall. The breakfast was adequate, although it sometimes took a while to get coffee or water. I ordered an omelette and found it inedible. being tough and stringy due to cooking at too high a heat. The limited evening menu, including the soup, changed very little over 4 days. However, what was on the menu was tasty and well prepared. There seemed to be a lot of business travellers during the week, mostly men with loud voices whose braying laughs managed to overcome the volume of the sound system. The front desk staff were always helpful and the dining room staff usually efficient and friendly. The bartenders were brusque and unhelpful. They did not stock Coca-Cola products, only Pepsi. The interior security thumb lock did not work. There was a chain but it was a very strange design and would have been difficult to remove in an emergency. It usually took four attempts with the key card to get the door open. Fortunately, I don't plan to return to Norwich again, so will not be forced to make the choice between location a

A bit of a mixed bag

Friendly welcome, the pool area heavily chlorinated. Room of good standard, although chilly, no central heating working and the ac struggling to warm the room. The lack of warmth continued in the dining room, where the breakfast was at best luke warm- although all aspects were of a high quality - just not hot. Evening meal was again luke warn. The staff are very good, but the maintenance of the facilities let the place down

Friendly staff

Posted Nov 11, 2016
Pros: Staff
Cons: First impression when arrived. Carpets in hallways very tired looking
Location: Local pub and restaurant food very good and staff very friendly
A little worried when arrived as from outside the hotel looks very tired but was pleased to see that inside was modern and clean. Apparently under a refurb. Rooms sufficient but bathroom very cramped. Breakfast very good. All staff were very helpful and friendly. Spa and pool nice but some of the showers not working correctly.
