The hotel is fabulous a real gem staff lovely and very helpful. Room clean and comfortable we had sea view room superb. Evening meals was excellent great choice good wines great bar. Breakfast in both day was below average and didn’t pay for either due to quality of the cooking. Cold, overdone in all areas especially the eggs. What a shame however wouldn’t stop me going back to the lovely hotel and staff.

The building was beautiful, the location very quiet. The staff, although many appeared new, were all very friendly and helpful. The room we had was comfortable and with a view of the sea across a sweeping lawn but part of the garden has what looked like holiday lodges now being built. This does not interupt the view of the sea though. A nice homely short stay.

Coastal village location. Old property with gardens and outdoor dining option with views to the sea. Room was mediocre. Loud boiler noise all night. No internet or phone signal which was annoying as this was a business trip. Staff very professional and accommodating. Manager responded appropriately to a complaint.

Thanks for your review, sorry that you were disturbed by loud noise over night? We will look into this along with the WIFI, unfrotunatley not much we can do about the signal, Overstrand is in a slight dip and some networks do work.

3 night sray
The 3 night stay was very good, the staff were very friendly and helpful, room was clean but you do hear doors banging as room was above the kitchen during dinner time, food was good especially sea food chowder,gressingham duck and duo pork, breakfast was ok but the fried eggs were hard

very disappointing the only saving grace was the 2 managers who did their best. staff on the whole tried their best however a couple of staff were unhelpful, attitude unbelievable everything seemed too much trouble. the rooms although big were old and dated wallpaper coming apart smelled musty dark and unwelcoming very dark. Was met at reception with very negative attitude when told we couldn't have the rooms we had booked delux rooms as dogs were not allowed in there. The one member of staff just said 'oh no you cant have those' then proceeded with negative comments, instead of trying to find a solution. Nothing was mentioned when booking about dogs not being allowed. the manager came and saved the day with a much better attitude and quickly sorted this out. the breakfast uncooked bacon the first day uncooked eggs the second day presentation although i am no master chef it left a lot to be desired just thrown on the plate. in the end we just cancelled breakfast totally had enough by then, wrong orders and uncooked food just wanted to escape ! Needless to say i will not be returning having paid top dollar for the rooms for 2 nights nearly a thousand pounds i expected a lot more. If i ran my business in the same manor i would be closed within a month.

I was sorry to read that you were disappointed with your stay. I am sorry for the way initially you were dealt with on arrival, we were unaware you were bringing dogs and our Deluxe rooms are normally not dog friendly, however I believe you did stay in the deluxe rooms with your dogs, which were charged for. I can only apologise regarding the breakfast - we have no addressed this issue and this won't happen again. I understand you won't be returning, and for this I am sorry.

The property atmosphere is really lovely. Quite location and beautiful views. The staff are very friendly. Rooms were nice and clean with refreshments including. The only thing that needs improvement in my view is the food and portion sizes. Also think you should have 2 options for breakfst one for cooked and one for continental. I do not think it was jastified paying £30 for my 2 children to have a slice of toast with chicolate spread. Apart from that great place and great location. I would go back but would eat somewhere else.

Great 2 day stay upgraded our room it was sensational the bathroom was exceptional so comfortable and clean. All the staff were helpful and pleasant 😊 food was good too

Had a lovely relaxing stay, the hotel and staff were great, room was lovely and comfy with everything needed, only thing that let it down ever so slightly was the food but overall it was excellent and I would stay again.

Baronial splendour!
If you like baronial splendour with sea views, this is the place for you. You can just see H. Poirot stepping out of the cute lift. The rooms are characterful, the beds are comfy, the food is great and the staff couldn't be more courteous and helpful. Been twice, will go again.

A pleasant one night stay, quiet at the hotel ahead of their Xmas inundation.Christmassy, clean, room 6 was fab, seaview. Pleasant trainee in front desk. Friendly restaurant staff. Decent breakfast offering. Front desk wasn’t always manned, tried to take a call from my solicitor to my room but no-one was at reception to pick up phone. Mobile black spot can be a problem but Wi-Fi was working. Would be nice if staff asked how was your stay on checking out. Otherwise happy and will continue to stay here as convenient and pleasant location. Thanks

Fabulous night away
Have used the Sea Marge on many occasions for drinks and meals but this was our first stay and won’t be the last. Fabulous room, views and service. Love this hotel and highly recommend.

Terrible attitude by service staff in the restaurant Food was burnt and the response to this was very poor and the maitre d'was Bordering on aggressive Paid a lot of money for this stay, hoping for a quality experience. The Sea Marge is a nice hotel. The staff are helpful and friendly. The hotel is clean, it could just do with an update in the bathrooms especially shower facilities. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay.

A lovely location. The rooms and dining room is lovely with a good menu choice. The bar could do with stocking 'fever tree' or 'fentimans' tonics rather than simply 'Schweppes' but otherwise excellent.

Loved the building. Garden was in need of attention with litter around. The outdoor seating was poor quality for a hotel advertised as ‘luxury’. The staff were pleasant enough but service at times was lack lustre and flustered. Our evening meal was very good , food was well cooked and tasty. Breakfast was a little disappointing with long waits for service and the buffet was not replenished.
