1 night stay

Posted Oct 6, 2017
Pros: Proximity to downtown, very well lit street and corner.
Cons: The old musty smell in public areas.
Location: See above. Very close to bars, restaurants, venues, coffee houses, various types of food. Approx 10-15 to NORFOLK airport
Entire public area of hotel smelled musty but the rooms were clean, clean-smelling, nice amenities, small frig & microwave. Best feature: easy and safe to walk downtown for restaurants, coffee shops, concert venue that we were visiting.

I checked in for a one night stay while I was in Norfolk for business. I noticed right away that the lobby was spacious but in dire need of updating. It was wallpaper was from the 1970's. the room was comfortable and average the wi Fi only worked sporadically and the black tuna bar and grill was way out dated and the television had no reception what so ever. Good thing it was for one night. Nice hotel but needs modernization

Had a nice stay

Posted Oct 2, 2017
Location: Downtown Norfolk is very nice, updated, and walkable!
The lobby is new but the room is a bit dated...particularly the bath tub, as it looked dingy but was probably cosmetic. Overall the room was clean, the bed and furniture were nice so I had a pleasant stay. Geneva at the front desk was super friendly, accommodating, and efficient!

Great location, rooms need updated.

Posted Oct 2, 2017
The building is clearly late '70s, early '80s, and the rooms need major renno, especially in the bathrooms. Bad lighting, old fixtures, old showers, and the only plugs in the bathroom require the door to be shut if you would like to also see in the mirror while doing your hair.

Don't judge a book by its cover

Posted Sep 5, 2017
I came to Norfolk to celebrate the birthday of my sister who attends NSU. I booked the hotel last minute but the rating wasn't too bad and being a Wyndham I knew it couldn't be that terrible. Checking in was great and the agent was very friendly! She explained everything. The lobby is beautiful so I expected the same of the room? NO! Entering the room you immediately notice the bathroom is the size of the elevator. You can access the toilet from the shower which is weird. No space to change clothes, move around, etc. The bathtub was horrible, of course I didn't expect it to be sparkling white and shiny but needless to say, I DID NOT shower at the hotel, I went on campus and used my sisters, that's how uncomfortable I was using that shower. Even after I went to the extent of disinfecting the room, I still couldn't bring myself to step foot in the shower. After running the A/C, it began to smell of mildew a little to me. Upon disinfecting the room, I sprayed the room to the tv and after wiping it with a rag, there was a brown residue that came off of it. Now I know that they say it's the dirtiest thing usually in a hotel room but wow! That was disturbing, I never turned the tv back off or turned the channel. There were dust bunnies on the walls above my bed. I only stayed one night which is why I didn't even bother to change rooms and I did not arrive back to the hotel until very late at night and after driving 4 hours, I was over it! NEVER AGAIN!

Norfolk Stay

Posted Aug 24, 2017
The hotel was located close to downtown so you easily walk. However, the side door was never locked; anyone could enter. The bathroom had peeling wall paper and the shower was stained. The only room service we received was empty garbage and new towels.

Roaches, staff didn't care

Posted Aug 24, 2017
Hotel is out dated, not well maintained and we had roaches in our room. Staff informed and they did not care to make it right. Terrible hotel. Don't waste your money. Also breakfast that you have to pay for isn't worth the money and they charge for parking. Many better hotels in the area.
