Nice hotel away from beach

Posted Aug 26, 2015
Pros: The hotel is pet friendly.
Cons: The hotel could be kept cleaner. They should offer free breakfast.
Location: This hotel is located 15 minutes from the beach area.
Check in was fast and efficient and staff were all very pleasant. The room was just fair to good and very standard. We travelled with a small dog and this location is extremely pet friendly. There are not just one but three separate dog park/play areas. There is an indoor and outdoor pool with a waterside. The only negative was dirty dishes from room left in the hall for two days. Overall it was a very nice stay.

close the beach

Posted Aug 25, 2015
Pros: I like the pool, because it was very shallow. And it even had a lifeguard, which means going into the pool is safe for kids and there are very quiet.
Cons: out side doors need to fix.
I like this hotel very quiet and beautiful. not too far to the beach.

Everything was very nice. The hotel staff was helpful. The outdoor pool area was very nice with some areas of shade as well as an area to get food.

Best hotel for the price

Posted Aug 24, 2015
Pros: Amenities, friendly staff and reasonable rate.
Cons: Bathroom is small and needs upgrading.
Location: Near restaurants and only within 20-30 minutes drive to the beach.
Nice hotel for a family vacation. Beautiful, historic look and well-maintained grounds. Staff is awesome!

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. It was a really pleasant hotel that offered a resort experience at a good price. I think the food at the hotel was just "ok".

Oversold

Posted Aug 17, 2015
Did not stay because they oversold before we arrived. They gave up our room because they claimed they tried to get in touch with us to pre-check with the credit card. Because we arrived later in the day, there were no rooms. They sent us to the Ramada Inn in Norfolk. Terrible hotel in terrible neighborhood.

Dissappointing hotel and staff

Posted Aug 15, 2015
Pros: the ground and garden
Cons: management and staff
upon registration at 8:30pm we were offered "upgrade" from double queen to king with sleepersofa for my husband, me and teenage daughter. After dinner we went to room, only to find no sheets on sleepersofa, nor pillows. Finally after 25 mins housekeeping handed us the sheets WITHOUT making the beds themselves. We had Dinner with no other guests at "fine dining restaurant". It was overpriced and took almost 1.5 hours for appetizer and entrees. Next morning at 9am my husband and me were denied access to outdoor pool. Young lady claimed opening hours are 10 am. We advised her that hotel directory, the booklet in hotel room, says otherwise and informed the management at the reception desk about our dissatisfied experience. They offered us a bottle of water for the roadtrip back to NJ. What a slap in the face! They said Expedia is responsible for customers dissatisfaction and said they would call them. I left the hotel management my cell phone number for Expedia to contact me that day but Expedia never reached out to me.
