We had an abysmal experience staying at the Hilton Vacation Club Oceanfront in Virginia Beach. The state of our hotel room was so unacceptable that I would have been shocked to find such dirty and decrepit accommodations at the local motel. Our stay started off by arriving at around 8 pm after being stuck for hours in terrible traffic. There was only 1 woman in front of us at the check-in booth already being helped, however, we waited on our feet for over THIRTY minutes until we were finally checked in by the front desk receptionist. While she was friendly and eventually apologetic, she initially didn’t even acknowledge us until more than 25 minutes passed of the two of us clearly standing in front of her waiting.
Our room was dusty and dirty, the carpet was filthy with a huge dried stain (that looked like blood) in the middle of the floor, our fridge looked like it had been thrown from the top of a building, the sink was missing the drain stopper completely (in addition to it being clogged) and our toilet seat had large pieces of ceramic/paint peeling and chipping all over the place. Both our room and balcony doors were jammed and our safe didn’t work. Rooms in these conditions should never be sold to anyone until they are properly cleaned and the broken items are replaced, especially not for the price we paid for them. No one in their right mind would ever expect to find such deplorable conditions at a Hilton hotel and their ad pictures are totally deceptive. Stay away!
