Very Pleasantly surprised

Pros: The Staff was very nice and efficient. Even called to alert us that the heat wasn't working properly and they delivered extra blanket.
Cons: I see they are making improvements, and I would hope they get around to painting the 'outside' of the patio doors.
Location: Since hotel was hosting a private party, we did not use The Tradewinds, however Hot Tuna is directly across the street. A supermarket as well.
I booked Hotel through Expedia and did notice some reviews were not favorable but I was well taken care of at check-in, and found the room to be very clean and larger than I had expected. The beds were pristine, as was the bathroom and living room area. I even walked barefoot on the rug and floor which is something I rarely do- but everything looked clean and comfortable. I had a partial view of the bay and was happy I caught a glimpse of dolphins! Yes there was also a view of the dumpster below, but obviously Hotel is upgrading and making improvements. Having only ONE night to spend there was my only disappointment. I would stay at Virginia Beach hotel/conference center again.

Hurricane Matthew spoiled out stay!

Pros: All suite rooms. Nice beach setting.
Cons: Not enough information on emergency weather situation.
Location: Colonial Williamsburg was great. Just 30 minutes away.
Bad weather made our experience less than ideal worst part about it was we were not kept informed. No power for 12 hours and no updates from the staff. Otherwise I would have given a higher rating. Not enough flashlights either.

Having an incredible location on the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia Beach is definitely amazing, however unfortunate and uncontrollable weather can occasionally occur in our coastal area. We are thrilled you were able to make the most of it and visit some local attractions like Colonial Williamsburg and we are so glad you enjoyed it! Luckily our area has an abundant of options for entertainment and shopping even when bad weather is a factor during your vacation. In need of updating the rooms. Carpets and walls very dirty. We were on the 2nd floor with a 7 month old baby. Turned out we were above the ballrooms with a wedding and reunion. Loud music, people and karaoke until 1:00 am. The website said they had umbrellas and chairs for the beach so we didn't bring any. They rented everything to one group. A very nice bartender lent us an umbrella because of the baby. In the 3 hours we were at the Beach, only 2 people from that group used the equipment rented.

Great Bay location...

The bay was a new experience for us and we enjoyed it very much. The pool, hot tub, and sauna were open all night for adults (even though a few kids snuck in anyways). Location was great! The room was clean, but the did have a stale smell. The hot water worked fine, as did the a/c but both were not user friendly. Resort exceeded my expectations from the reviews I preciously read.

Nice hotel right on the bay

The room was great the location was great! My only complaint was there was trouble with the room key so we us to switch it 3 times before getting into our room. One of the times I went up while waiting for dinner to get a sweatshirt and had to wait about 20 minutes before someone could open my door because the key didn't work, so when I got back my food was on the table and cold, not the restaurants fault the food at trade winds was delicious!

Needs updating

Very expensive considering the fact that the hotel is very outdated and the sofa along with the carpet had gross stains. The staff was very nice, but I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

Virginia Beach Resort Hotel and Conference Center

Hotel needs TLC and a refurbishing. Battery on door was dead so our keys did not work; hair dryer rusted not working and had to be replaced. The carpet was stained. Great view of bay from the balcony.
