wonderful hotel in paradisiac island

Posted Dec 15, 2017
Pros: Nature preservation and great service. Great place to run away from everyday life
Cons: rooms are being renovated, so they are taking care of this matter.
Location: Amazing nature just 2 minutes away from your room. One of the better reefs in the Maldives
Stayed at this hotel with my husband to celebrate my 30th bday and couldn't have made a better choice. Super friendly and thoughtful staff that makes everything to make sure you feel you are in good hands, they take in consideration your food preferences (and even order in case you have restrictions so you have more options during meals). On my bday, they decorated my table and surprised me with a cake - no extra charge from the all inclusive deal. They constantly make sure you have everything you need to enjoy your vacay. They are renovating the rooms and soon it will be even better. The island is just a paradise, you dive with snorkel and after 2 minutes swimming you see turtles, sharks, rare fish, rays, etc. They take really good care of nature and preserve the ecosystem. We will definitely come back.

Stay in the Water Villas if you can

Posted Sep 24, 2017
A small, friendly and intimate island. If you want lots of activities and loads of other people around this is not for you. If you want a relaxed island with good food, polite and friendly staff and fellow islanders this is for you. The lagoon is safe and easy to snorkel in even for amateur like me! We had both a plane and boat transfer from Maile and both were a great experience. The boat ride was good fun and the sea plane was great to view the other islands from. There is a small amount of refurbishment going on at the result but this had no impact on our stay and the team completing it were quiet and considerate. I would recommend going all inclusive as food and drink prices whilst not ridiculous could soon add up and would have definitely cost more if we had not been all inclusive. The only thing that could be improved slightly was the guiding on some of the trips such and the Sunset fishing and Dolphin trip, the guides spoke little english and whilst polite were unable to answer fairly basic questions. I would definitely go back to this island it was one of the best holidays we have ever had.

Mediocre outdated hotel. Staff lacked enthusiasm. Meal options were repetitive and had very little variation over the duration of my stay.

Misleading advertisement

The hotel is situated in a great location for snorkeling. The view is nice but after a while the limited amount of activities gets to be a bit mundane. We purchased the all inclusive plan but that was a bit misleading. Meals are all buffet style only and only during certain times. Only one type of all inclusive option was offered on Expedia but upon arrival we were informed if you wanted what they consider to be premium liquor such as grey goose, Hennessy, etc. you needed a differ Mr all inclusive plan. They also didn't serve all inclusive drinks after midnight. If you wanted those drinks you had to pay separately. Similarly they offered lobster dinners, prawn dinners and crab dinners all for $80+ USD. We had an early flight there and upon arrival we'e told that we would have to pay for our meal since we were there early (after traveling almost 24 hours to get to this resort from the US). The same thing occurred during our checkout. We were told that even though the boat transfer wasn't until 2pm any food or drink after 12pm we'd have to pay al la carte pricing for. Their a la carte price for a burger and fries was $22! The speed boat was packed to beyond capacity on our return and stalled in the middle of the ocean more than once. I literally thought I might not make it back to the airport!!! There were 26 people on a boat with a max capacity of 27 and each person had at least two pieces of luggage!!

Fantastic Bungalow On The Beach

Posted Jul 27, 2017
Pros: The staff & the food plus location
Cons: The was insufficient information about the Male to resort transfers. We got in at 20.00 - missed last transfer. No explanation from Expedia
Location: Not a lot to do apart from the sea based excursions
We were in beach bungalow 309. The resort is progressively renovating the rooms. Ours was pre-renovation but still comfortable & homely if somewhat rough around the edges. Yet I'd be quite happy staying in the same pre-renovation room. The island is the stuff of dreams, you just need to go outside the storm wall & the snorkelling is out of the world, so many fish, so many sizes, so many colours. You should also go on a night snorkelling trip - quite amazing what can be seen. Our beach bungalow was 10m away from the sea and had its own loungers & sun shade. We were on an all inclusive deal, so all food & local alcohol was included, although the choice of cocktails was limited & poorly presented. The food was good & served buffet style but there were numerous food stations where food was cooked/prepared in front of you. You are given a specific table & waiter throughout your stay & this gave you the opportunity to get to know him. It worked out well. All the waiters were all polite, attentive and had a great sense of humour. Many different food styles were on offer but for me there was a whole Indian/Sri Lankan corner for curries etc. available using all local vegetables & fish/meat. The food was excellent

Dear Guest, A fantastic day from the sunny side of life! We do appreciate you for taking time & sharing your experiences here on Expedia based on your recent visit. We apologize for the inconvenience caused upon your arrival to Maldives however, we do believe that it is mention in the Expedia website the hotel’s transfer timings. We would also like to share further information to all web booking guests that the hotel is relatively far from Velana international airport. With this in mind, the management does not arrange night transfers due to health and safety reasons. Once again, It has always been a pleasure looking after you and we do hope that we will be able to welcome you back on your next holiday to the paradise island of Maldives. Quiet & Relaxing Honeymoon

Posted Jul 24, 2017
Pros: Sea creatures can be watched from all parts of the resort: whales, sharks, sting rays, crabs, coral, starfish, and seagulls are everywhere!
Cons: The checkout process is a bit of a downer: many times checkout time is 11am, but the seaplane doesn't arrive until 2pm w/ no access to the bar or room
Location: A beautiful coral reef can be explored with a swim from the beach, scuba diving (classes offered), kayaking, and expeditions to other islands.
My husband and I stayed in one of the Over Water Bungalows, All-Inclusive for our Honeymoon. The staff was absolutely marvelous with how helpful and polite they were-- due to a layover in Dubai, our baggage arrived a day late but the Concierge was great about keeping in contact with the Male Airport and having is shipped over to the correct island. The room is cleaned twice a day, once in the morning and another during dinner time. I assume that this is due to all the sand that can easily be tracked in to the room... regardless, it's greatly appreciated and clean towels are never in short supply. We were pleased to see that alcoholic beverages were apart of the All-Inclusive package; although limited in what is on that menu, it's still a great perk! Because we were looking to have a quiet and low-key getaway for our trip, this island (North Ari Atoll) was perfect for us. While they did have live music and a dance platform at the main bar, the resort wasn't inundated with loud party-ers and rowdy guests. It is the perfect place to relax on the beach for a few days, sipping on cocktails and enjoying the ocean-life that is nearby.

Amazing Location, amazingly disappointing hotel

Posted Jun 8, 2017
Food is limited and not tasty. "Fresh seafood" is apparently tuna every day. You can get it grilled or boiled. Room 406 was at one point nice, but needs major repairs. Most of the grounds are as well due for refurbishment. Staff tries really hard, but it became clear to me they simply didn't get how hospitality is supposed to work.

Everything was great except the staff

Posted May 6, 2017
The room was very big with great facilities. The view from the room was stunning. All the facilities and dive centre were excellent. It would have been perfect if the staff in the restaurant were nicer. Sometimes we stayed in the restaurant with stress because of the staff there :(

Not a well managed resort.

Posted Apr 28, 2017 on Hotels
Nice resort in terms of diving and greatwater bungalows. However, the cleanliness and housekeeping was pathetic. They just made up the beds and we had to ask for our toilet and bathroom to be cleaned. The toilets near the restaurants and pool were dirty. The trouble with this resort is the top management and front office. The chefs do barmen are very good but obviously they are given directions in terms of food and beverages. The choice was abysmal and the quality of cocktails in the all inclusive range very limited and boringly the price we paid per night. We were celebrating a special anniversary and didn't want any freebies but at the time of check in we were asked to complete a long form mentioning all our likes and dislikes etc and also special dates but all this was ignored. So, we are wondering why we wasted so much of our time to complete useless questionnaires which were then ignored. The food and choice was limited. Snacks outside the meal times consisted of one or two items such as sandwiches or ribbon cakes and that's it. Personally, there are better resorts. The top management is nonexistent and whilst the staff are very good, they are given limited discretion. So overall, apart from the diving a dissatisfied 6 nights. I wouldn't go back

Poor customer service and money scammers

Posted Apr 25, 2017 on Hotels
Poor customer service! I tried to book a the seaplane separately from my friend's boat transfer 3 wks in advance; necwr heard back from the hotel and ended up having to take the boat. Poor communication from staff; we were informed by staff that our lunch was included free of charge our first day due to our arrival time...we were charged anyway. They also told us we were on half board (breakfast and dinner included in price) that was a lie; we were breakfast only and were charged additionally for lunch and dinner despite us trying to upgrade in advance to save money. There too many hidden fees, we ended up paying over $300 in extra costs. Thr staff is unaware of their own property rules, they all give inconsistent information! Food and alcohol were only available during set times; not 24/7 like all of the resorts I've visited prior to this one. There's no fine dining, dancing or shows at this resort, just snorkeling, diving, fishing, and fish feeding. I will not be visiting again.
